front engine mount? does it do anything?
Does the front motor mount on my 90 integra do anytihng? I know its blown out but its still in there and i suspect its the cause of a thud when i punch the throttle. Should I just take it out? It is worth replacing?
Well, it's not doing anything productive for you right now, so it won't hurt to remove it. If the motor moves enough to make a thud against that mount, I'd question your other mounts. Check your rear mount to make sure it's in good shape.. the motor really shouldn't move that much.
If you put a new front mount in and your rear mount is broken, the front mount's just gonna rip again. But in my opinion it is best to have all the mounts in place and in good condition.

mine would clunk when the auto shifts gears and it had a horrible vibration at idle in gear (forward only, not reverse or neutral). I replaced the front mount and it was the same. the back one was also bad and now it is fixed. the front mount was 26$ and the rear one was 65$. that rear one was a bitch to replace!!
I'd have to doubt that Honda put that front iso-mount in just because "it looks pretty" so plan on replacing it. Don't just remove it, it does have a purpose.
Without the torque mounts like that one, and the back one. The engine will rock more than is safe. I've seen the driver side motor mount bolts sheer becasue of that, so I would fix it. You like the mounts that actually hold the engine in right.
You colud replace the front mount and get motort ount inserts for the back and side mounts. They are made by energy suspenion I think. These will make a differnce on the motor movement.
