Stupid ass Hasport Mounts!! Help NOW!
How the hell am I suppose to get the tranny mount off so I can left my motor out ?? I cant drop it down because the way the cherry picker is designed....Please help!! Its the far left bolt under the mount
Alright Im trying to remove my Hasport Tranny mount so i can pull my motor up out of the bay ...but the tranyn mount is hitting ....How do i get that bolt off on the tranny mounts
Take the single bolt on the tranny mount out (bolt that goes through the mount bushing) then lower the tranny down so you have enough space to take the mounts off the tranny...then pull up. I hope this helps

I've never understood why people use a cherry picker on CRX's.. I've dropped 2 engines out of hatches and crx's and both times through the bottom.. it's both hella easy and hella quick. True, you do need 2 jacks and jack stands but it's easier than renting a cherry picker.
I wanted to do that too when I did my swap 4 mos ago...but i didnt have the equipment to raise it high enough and got the cherry picker from a friend. howd you do it though, i could use the tip for the next one.
whats the exact process for taking an engine out through the bottom. Do you have totaly take out the suspension on that side ? meaning control arms, and all ? or does it just come out sliding under the hub ?
ok... here's the process. Engine still in bay but only held on by 2 mount bolts. have the car on jack stands. Take a jack (a big jack like a 2 or 3 ton jack...75$ at costco) and put 2 or three blocks of wood on it then stick it under the front Cross member.. jack it up until the front pinch welds are resting on the jacks stands with the jack stands at the top or near top of there travel.
THIS is how high (excessively high) you will need the car to slide the motor out from underneath it.. preferably through the fender well on either side.
To get the engine out: With the engine ready to be dropped (suspension and everything else off except for the 2 side motor mount bolts.) Use the big jack (no wood) on the front x-member and lower the car all the way to the ground or as low as the jack will take it. Measure how far the oil pan or tranny is from touching the cardboard that you put underneath the engine bay to start with! Then lift it up again.. put some blocks on the cardboard where the center of the oil pan would go and the tranny and lower it down until the engine touches the blocks.
Undo 2 motor mounts.. if the engine wants to rotate back and forth (i.e. fall over with no car supporting it) then position blocks that the engine is restin on in such a manner that they allow the engine not to rock back and forth or fall over.
Once the motor/tranny is unbolted and resting on the ground then jack up the car until it's on jack stands, then put wood on the jack for extra height. then jack it up all the way..
Once the car is up.. just grab that damn carboard and slide your engine out of the wheel well. Reinstallation is the same but reversed..duh.
Note: instead of carboard you could drop it onto a creeper and roll it out.. may be easier, if the creeper doesn't break.
picture.
I hope I cleared some things up.. If you have any questions please feel free to IM me or just repost here.
edit: don't forget to support things like your a/c compressor, brake calipers, ect...!!!!!

When I did this I had NO SUSPENSION ON THE CAR.. I had no springs, shocks, control arms, stabilizers, nothing. Even those bars that go into the front x-member.. (I forgot the name). I had all my suspension off because I replaced all my bushings.

Motor mounts were easy to line up.
Infact.. a week ago the bolt from my rear motor mount came out. (dad didn't torque it down!) Anyway, so I had the car on jack stands then put a jack under the pan and one under the tranny and undid the other 2 mounts to line up the rear and the other 2 just lined up fine.
Sure, the explaination for removing it from the bottom sounds long, but you just stand in front of you car and visualize it.... it's easy as 1.2.3.
Edit: When doing such things pay attention to the pros.. like www.hasport.com Always, on everything, check your research. If you don't you'll be asking questions when things don't work and you'll be kicking yourself because of it.
