Honda HAMP oil filter's
Has anyone here used the HAMP oil filter?
http://inlinefour.com/honhamoilfil.html
If so, how does it compair to the OEM filter?
http://inlinefour.com/honoemoilfil.html
Other then the obvious (price)... Is it worth the extra $7? Thanks

I use the HAMP filters (the smaller version)... the smaller size helps maintain a more constant oil pressure when moving in and out of VTEC...
I like them
I like them
use an RSX oil filter....same concept.
I was goin to get RSX OEM honda filter
and when I question them(Acura) about filters
they says it might cause damage to my engine
WTF? nomatter what I got RSX filter now anyway
doubt what Acura says?
used OEM rsx filters for 12K miles so far. No trouble yet....
I can't imagine trying to get oil related warrenty work done with that thing on my engine though.

sorry about the question, but what's the deal with RSX filter? Is it a better design or jsut a smaller size one? I know a smaller size oil filter can keep the oil pressure up a little bit but what's the benefit of it? and will it give up the "filtering" function of a bigger size filter??
.... hamp filters ran 6 dollars a pop when i bought them
at that time i thought it was an okay deal.
i was a ricer so i had to buy them because they are GREEEEEEN like yoshi

The chief advantage of the hamp oil filter is the actual filter material inside. It is basically the same internal structure/material as the JDM Honda oil filter, which is not available here.
USDM oil filters use a paper element inside.
Personally, I think it's pointless since I have my oil and filter changed every 3000 miles or fewer.

.
yes, just a considerably smaller case. I think next time I change my oil, I'm just going to use the ITR filter though. Really, it filters the K20 engine just fine, why would it be inadaquate for the B18?

I have ran them for the past few years and no problems at all. The magnetic of this filter is stronger than the stock Honda oil filter. Reason I dont like USDM Honda filters cuz they are made by Fram
someone posted a few weeks back that the filter for our cars has changed. looks like they went with the rsx filter for the b series as well. just wish i could find the post

I doubt they will use RSX filter on B18 engines

Well, if a company makes something to your spec, wouldnt it be good? Fram designed filters suck, yes, I agree.
Ohh, and about this thing raising oil pressure, read the other posts about the OEM RSX filter, I replied a rebuttle to it.
I'll stick with my Canton/Mecca remote filter.

I mean people here jump all over butt dyno reviews and to me, these sorts of comments are like saying my car feels faster after I added the JDM kakisubitshuspoonjunbuddymoto $10,000 part (which costs $100 for the equivalent US made part and you are paying for the duty and shipping) that I just bought that no-one else can buy here...
sorry, but I had to say it....
not to get picky but that to me is not a reason. Is it because they are made in the US or Canada and have poorer quality? is it because Fram makes an ill fitting, poorer filtering one and you have proof of this?
Ofcourse without a link, I'm just diggin around for the proverbial smoking gun....how I hate and love the internet at times.....
As well, if any of you actually saved or looked at the OEM filter that ORIGINALLY came with the R (the one you got when you picked the car up NEW) it says made in Japan and has the Toyo Roki stamp on it and compared it side by side to the USDM Honda ones....apart from the printing on it (duh) the casing is actually thicker.... I personally haven't chopped mine apart, I just saved it cuz I thought it was unique and have always speculated.....
If anyone can find the link I'm talking about.... you'll definately see what's going on..... it has to do with the number of pleats in the filtering media....etc....
