Bleh, as the topic states, my PGM-FI relay went out. I don't understand why it would. I took the SOB out and let me tell yah, I had a BITCH of a time to get it out. I'm so mad that it would short out on me. I tested the terminals and there is a short between nodes 5 and 7.

I'm just venting right now.

FYI, I did install a fuel cut off switch. I'm wondering if that somehow may have shorted out the relay.

try a salvage yard.i have 2 from a 87-89 acura integra.dont know if thy will work but it should,anyone?

 

I don't have time to go to the salvage yard. I'm sharing a car right now and it SUCKS!

Just fix your broken one. Takes about 30 minutes to do.

I tried resoldering the relay and it still doesn't work. I guess I have to buy a new one? Any other suggestions?

 

how did you know when it went out? what kinda problems? what made you think it was the relay?

 

I got a suggestion Jimmy, buy the one I have from a 90DX!!!!!
Or buy the one from the dealer that I can get for you for $35 brand new!!!

 

I think I have a faulty relay too though I'm having a hell of a time getting it out of my car (88 Civic Hatch). Seems like you have to remove all the plastic around the relay area which seems to be attached to the dash and doesn't look easy. I might be able to get access to it if I remove the change drawer thing.

Does anyone have any pointers regarding the easiest way to get the main relay out of the car?

Much appreciated... I need to inspect mine and maybe redo the solder too. I'm experiencing intermittent no starts when the ambient temperature is high.

Well, well. I finally got it to work. I resoldered the connections etc..etc.. I decided to look at the alternator solenoid fuse and guess what?!?!?! It was blown! WTF?! I know that it wasn't blown before I took out the main relay, so I must have shorted it out somehow. Something THAT simple and I didn't check it. Needless to say, a lesson learned...the hard way!
