CALLING OUT EJ8CHU!!!
wats up guys... i bought a retrofit hid setup from ej8chu... it consisted of tsx projectors and lexus ballasts and ignitiors.. the stuff came pretty quick but when i tested everything out the ballasts didnt work... the bulbs and projectors are fine... when my friend and i tested out the ballasts one worked for a few seconds then shut off (then tested my friends working d2s ballasts and stayed on till we disconnted the power)... the other one we saw arcing in the shielding so we didnt wanna mess with that one anymore... when i contacted ej8chu about this he told me to file a claim with usps, the shipping company, and i told him repeatedly that the box was fine, no signs of being dropped or anything... if that was the case then i wouldnt be complaining because of course its the shippers fault... i told him that its not the shippers fault but urs... i told him about the arcing and he said that one of the wires could have been broken when he tested the ballasts and when he packed it, it broke all the way... see he admitted it was his fault for one... the other one is still a mystery y it wont stay on... well he said i could send him the ballasts back and he'd get them fixed.. i said ok then thought about it for a few mins then said wait i dont want those cuz it might cause a problem again... so i pmed him back and said i dont wanna do that, either send me new ballasts and i send the other ones back, or u refund me and i send everything back.. he then says he'll send me different ballasts when he gets another car in his shop.. i didnt like that either cuz once again i'd have to wait when i paid for for 100%working/tested/legit projectors and ballasts which i didnt get it... i filed a claim with paypal but got this "We're unable to decide this claim in your favor at this time. PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy applies to the shipment of goods but not to disputes about merchandise quality." which is bs... so guys beware of this guy.. so here are pics and vids and he and him pming each other back...
edit: i forgot, he also claims that the stuff was packed just fine but each thing was barely packed and crammed in a box as u'll see in the pics

(3:25 PM 9/23/2008) Joon Joon: Wats up man. Have u shipped out the stuff yet??
(3:42 PM 9/23/2008) EJ8chu: nah ive got it packaged up right now though. Im printing out the label when i get home and will put it in a drop box tonight
(12:37 PM 9/24/2008) Joon Joon: any updates??
(8:38 AM 9/25/2008) EJ8chu: check your email for the tracking number, i just dropped it off at the post office. Sorry for the delay
(8:40 AM 9/25/2008) EJ8chu: i paid for insuracnce too for the amount you sent me incase the idiots mess them up
(9:10 AM 9/25/2008) Joon Joon: Koo thanks
(4:55 PM 9/28/2008) Joon Joon: Wats up man I got the hids.. I jsut tested them and the bulbs are good but one of the ballasts isn't firing right... the one that isn't firing right, the shielding is kinda messed up.. Ill show u pics but I'm not sure wat to do
(6:09 PM 9/28/2008) EJ8chu: well the shielding wouldn't be related to it not firing right. This is why i insured them for the amount you sent me. They prob messed them up. Just send me pictures and ill see what i can do for you. Those idiots probably messed them that's why i paid for insurance i didn't want you getting screwed
(7:29 PM 9/28/2008) Joon Joon: Ok looked at it again its not the shielding.. Its the wires in it... the wire u could tell is broken... it goes limp if u just hold it up and it shouldn't do that... when I tested it again ucould see that its arcing inside the shielding... hit me up on aim ej1joon
(7:41 PM 9/28/2008) Joon Joon: Now were testing the other balast that looks good and it won't stay on.. Ill take a vid of it and show u.... my friend has a set of good balasts and it stays on.. We can't keep these balasts working right
(9:30 PM 9/28/2008) Joon Joon: http://i5.photobucket.com/albu...8.jpg
this is the good part.. it doesnt just drop off...here is a pic of where the wire is broken... u see how it just drops down
http://i5.photobucket.com/albu...1.jpg
and heres the vids...
this one is the ballast that i bought from u... see how it turns on then shuts off in a few sec
http://i5.photobucket.com/albu...4.jpg
and here is my friends ignitor and ballast.. it stays on longer than a few seconds.. didnt even turn off
(9:31 PM 9/28/2008) Joon Joon: i messed up... here is the ballast u gave...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albu...3.jpg
and my friends good ballast
http://i5.photobucket.com/albu...4.jpg
(2:09 AM 9/29/2008) EJ8chu: Is the wire actually broken? It seems like if it was broken it wouldnt cut on at all. I had these and they worked fine.
(2:14 AM 9/29/2008) EJ8chu: I mean, if these wires are the issue at hand, i guess its possible that when i packaged them it broke the wire. Like maybe it was half way through before and that's why it worked for me and then when i packaged/shipped them it just totally broke
(8:31 AM 9/29/2008) Joon Joon: well the one i posted was the better of the 2... no breaks in the wire... and even that one didnt wanna stay on for a few seconds.. the one that has the breaks, we didnt want to try it again cuz of the arcing.. we didnt wanna get shocked so thats y we dont have a vid of it..
(12:54 PM 9/29/2008) EJ8chu: could you take the better of the 2 ignitiors and test it on both ballasts?
(1:03 PM 9/29/2008) Joon Joon: the ignitor on these are inside the ballast... so they are one piece...
(1:06 PM 9/29/2008) Joon Joon: if u had aim then i think it would be better to talk through that
(3:08 PM 9/29/2008) Joon Joon: so wats going to happen??
(3:55 PM 9/29/2008) EJ8chu: Well sounds like the ballasts are messed up. Call usps and see what they say. I payed for insurance for $225 so you will get all of your money back from them
(5:04 PM 9/29/2008) Joon Joon: is there a number i could hit u up at?? i dealt with something like this and i dont wanna deal with... i know that it didnt happen during shipping cuz if it happened during shipping then the box would be messed up and all everything would be messed up... so i could either send everything back and u refund me back or u could send me new ballasts and i'll send u the messed up ones back.. so u tell me wat u wanna do...
(5:09 PM 9/29/2008) Joon Joon: or another option is u send me money to pay for some other ballasts..
(7:58 PM 9/29/2008) EJ8chu: Ok, I'm going to call USPS to see what they want to do. I sent them to you working and now they aren't. Simple as that.
Do both of these ballasts have the same exact symptoms when they are on? Because it is possible you are supplying too much voltage to them considering HIDs use less energy and you are jumping the straight off the battery......instead of a 10 amp fuse
(9:53 PM 9/29/2008) Joon Joon: The ballast that's in the vid is the better one but it won't stay on for more than a few secs... the other one is arcing inside of the shielding... and the ballasts are fine cuz the ballasts get 12volts stock.... so hooking it up to the batt is perfectly fine... so its still the same options of refunding, u sending me other working ballasts or I buy working ballasts and u reminberse me
(4:47 AM 9/30/2008) EJ8chu: twelve volts yes but fuses regulate amperage. A battery has very high amperage. Ill get back to you today
(10:00 AM 9/30/2008) Joon Joon: Well let me know asap if u wanna send me different ballasts, ur gonna refund me, or watever but I need to know
(10:49 AM 9/30/2008) Joon Joon: Text me at .......... and tell me wats going on
(2:23 PM 9/30/2008) EJ8chu: Alright, i talked to usps. They told me you need to take them what i sent you and fill out form 1000. Just let them know they did work, now they dont
(2:29 PM 9/30/2008) Joon Joon: see this is wat i didnt want to get into... i have to go to the post office fill out the form and bring them the packaging.. if they look at the packaging there is no damage to it like i said...
(2:34 PM 9/30/2008) EJ8chu: Alright well i paid for insurance. This is why. Take it or leave it. When they call me i will explain but they need to understand that they are fragile electronics, not just a piece of glass or something. Any sudden jolt could mess them up, and leave the box fine. But before you do all of this, is there any way you could put and inline 10 amp fuse on the power size just to be sure. It looks like they warm up and just keep getting brighter until they cut off
(2:47 PM 9/30/2008) Joon Joon: ok when i got the package, it wasnt packed all to well.. the ballasts and projectors were barely wrapped up in packing material... i barely have time if that to go to usps.. and if i was to take it to usps, they would want to do an investigation.. and with the investigation they would see the packing material and the box.. the box was not damaged and there wasnt that much packing material to pack all that stuff with... so like i said either buy me working ballasts or i'll send back everything and u refund me..
(2:48 PM 9/30/2008) EJ8chu: No. You need to try and see what they will say or you are SOL. I'm sorry but you are making no effort on your end and there is no way to prove either you messed them up by supplying too much power or i sent you bad ballasts
(2:51 PM 9/30/2008) EJ8chu: I am in no way trying to screw you. I paid for insurance, like i keep saying, for this reason.
(2:53 PM 9/30/2008) EJ8chu: I'm sorry if you don't have time. I'm sure you have a lunch break or something. I already called them and tried to handle it myself but the buyer is responsible for filing the claim
(2:53 PM 9/30/2008) Joon Joon: i been trying different things to get it to stay on.. and u even said that the wiring on one of the ballast might have been messed up when u packed it and when u packed it it broke... so thats not the shipping companys problem.. u broke it... like i said either u buy new ballasts or u give me a refund and i send everything back
(2:56 PM 9/30/2008) EJ8chu: If you want to ship me the harness back, i will have it repaired for you. I was unaware of the issue there. I will except responsibility for that. But once again, before i put them in the box, they both worked flawlessly
(2:59 PM 9/30/2008) Joon Joon: so u want me to send them back to u and ur gonna have both of them repaired??
(3:06 PM 9/30/2008) Joon Joon: ok i thought about it and if u cant get them fixed then wat?? i dont wanna take that risk... id rather u send me new ballasts or refund me... if u send me new ballasts then i will send u back the old ones and u could get them fixed and resale those..
(5:49 PM 9/30/2008) EJ8chu: No all i said was that i would take responsibility for a break in the wire that i probably made worse when i packaged them. When i tested them it didn't arc but that doesn't mean it didn't break the rest of the way when i packaged it. The only thing i can do for you besides tell you to speak with usps is wait until i get another tsx or Nissan at work that has a busted headlight. I don't have matching pairs on any other ballasts right now
(6:26 PM 10/1/2008) Joon Joon: So ur gonna leave me with non working ballasts and ur keeping my money... u don't evem know when ull get other ballasts.... doesn't seem right.... still think the best way is u either send me new ballasts now and I send u the other ones back or u refund me and I send everything back
(7:13 PM 10/1/2008) EJ8chu: Or you could just go to usps and file a claim like should be done
(7:35 PM 10/1/2008) Joon Joon: And have them investigate and see that it wasn't their fault.... box not damaged, items not packed well.... I don't wanna go through that trouble
(7:39 PM 10/1/2008) EJ8chu: The items were packed fine. And just because the box wasn't flat doesn't mean it wasn't dropped
(7:44 PM 10/1/2008) Joon Joon: No they weren't packed fine... I told u that before... and if it was dropped u would see signs on the box...
(12:24 PM 10/2/2008) Joon Joon: so are u gonna send me new d2s ballasts and i'll send u the old ones back, or u gonna refund me??
(1:57 PM 10/3/2008) Joon Joon: If u don't give me an answer by tomorrow imma put up a thread on ht and file a claim with paypal
(2:06 PM 10/3/2008) EJ8chu: And i will post all of the information i have told you. You NEVER attempted to file a claim with USPS. I told you, the best i am willing to do IF they decide not to cover the claim is send you new ones when i get another set.

Like i said. you supplied direct battery power to an electronic device. You could have damaged them. And it was your choice not to file a claim with USPS. Please keep this to pay pal until you can prove that i scammed you because as i have stated a million times, I sent you working ballasts.
And PS, i definably had those packaged much better than that. You probably pulled them out, messed them up or whatever and then took pictures. Why would you have taken pictures as you unpacked them?
I payed for insurance. I did not have to. I did and i am telling you i sent you good ballasts. The next step would be for you to file a complaint with the shipping company. You even stated to me that you didn't want to deal with it and didn't have time. There has been no attempt on your end to redeem the situation which has no proof that i caused

i dont have time.. as of right now i'm not on a computer but on my phone... and i dont want to deal with them cuz like ive said a bunch of times, the box is fine, no signs of damage or being dropped or watever... and if i was to file a claim with them, it would take weeks to get it resolved... and yet again i dont wanna wait cuz i paid for 100%tested/working/legit ballasts
i didnt throw anything away or mess anything up... thats everything that come with it... i usually dont throw anything away till i'm certain that i dont need it... and i had everything out then repacked it to show how it was packed...

i unpacked them at home and repacked them at home... the picture of the box and the packing material out was when i was at my friends house...

Connecting them directly to battery power isn't going to harm them.
Here's the facts...
1. You stated in your thread that they were working "100% legit and tested"
2. When they were received, they were NOT working correctly.
The box was not damaged at all. Therefore, USPS is probably gong to say it isn't their fault. Then you'll agree to get him new ballasts at YOUR convenience? That's shady.
It seems to me like somone paid for the insurance so they wouldn't have to deal with the ballast not working.

I am dealing with it. I have not ignored him once, only tried to reason with him. And how would supplying an un regulated amout of amperage to an electronic device not cause it to fail? Please explain....

car batteries are regulated at 12v.
hid ballasts need 12v to be started and then the ballasts acts like an inverter and puts out a different amount of electricity needed to power up the 50w hid capsule.
"First thing to check is if there's any power on the input pins of the ballast. When the lights are switched on, you should measure 12V DC on the input pins."

Why cant you make a legitimate claim with USPS and go from there? What is so hard about that. You CANNOT prove i sent you bad ballasts. Im saying i sent you good ones. Make a claim and go from there!

The box looks perfectly fine to me, there isn't much he can say to USPS. USPS will probably think hes trying to scam them...

Like maybe it was half way through before and that's why it worked for me and then when i packaged/shipped them it just totally broke

i have owned about 50 ballasts of different kind and all the ones that turned on and then off were actually burned out by myself front plugging them thru the battery just like your doing on that video.
i have burned out about 6 ballasts that way.

Exactly... It's not like you can get a power surge from it...

FYI - THE SHIPPER not the receiver MUST file the claim - which I will tell you will be denied based upon the condition of the box they shipped in
2ndly I have run hid's in a '00 integra, a 96-98 civic, 99-00 civic & now I will be running in an eg. I also can attest to checking working hids & ballasts directly to the battery
