Default turbo f22 or go with h22

I have a 96 accord and want to turbo it. but what is the max you can get out of a turbo f22? Is it worth it or should i go for the h22 or h23 and turbo that?

Hands down go with the h22. You'll probably only get 180 to 190 hp turboing the f22, and that's not even whp. Why not start off with a jdm h22 that's 200 hp?

accords have pretty strong rods, they should hold up to boost.

if you want reliable hp get the h22a, if you know how to tune and increase the fuel then go for the f22 turbo.

i like the hp advantage of the f22b turbo.

A turbo f22 would be nicer, especially with a blow off valve

I was contemplating the same question...

But like Razor said, You will get much more reliable HP with the H22.
It is also a good platform to start on.

A turbo F22 does sound cooo. If you want to turn some heads but arent worried about reliability...BOOST AWAY. Just dont forget to drop some Iron ductile sleeves and some forged pistons and lots and lots of tunning.

hey fellas...i used to think the h22 was the best way to go in this situation as well....but after some time in a local shop and seeing some f22 potential, it's not as bad of a motor as some would think....one of the guys there is running (and actually now selling) a turbo for his f22 which gets 242 whp....and on top of that his mods include the turbo, vtec head (it's the lx so it didn't come like that), front mount intercooler, stock cam ground down for a turbo application...he was running at 8 psi of boost with that power too....so the f22 is definitely capable of 300 + hp with a beefed up bottom end and some headwork... sorry for the long post, but i just thought i should share...and by the way...i'm buying his setup as soon as i get the scrilla!

i really wanted to turbo my f22b1, but things kept going wrong with my car and i have too many miles plus i have to do the 90k check up, too many miles etc. I did order nitrous xpress, but my homeboy who runs a shop will be putting that money towards a h22 since his distributor is on back order, etc. Synchros and clutch are all fucked and slipping. Plus, can't wait to have a dohc in my car.

H22a swap and a turbo with proper engine management, thats my plan anyway

Alot of guys ive seen on forums with boosted H22a accords get the turbo on then give up and move on to a new project usually because they dont want to spend the time or money on a stand alone or the dyno time. Its a shame, turbo H22a's make alot of power.

How much power did you get from turbo charging it and how much was it to do?

Spend $3K for 50 hp or spend $3K for 100+ hp. Turbo goes on in a weekend. Swap will take you longer.

this may sound dumb, but i was thinking h22 untill i thought about it:
what happens when you go to sell it??!!? some people are going to be AWFULLY weary of a hybrid car so you would have to sell it on htech or something, severly limiting your selling power. No dealer will trade it for legel and insurance reasons. You can sell the turbo and the car seperately.

H22 is overrated. Go F22 turbo, it's ripe for it with an 8.8:1 compression ratio.

h22's are quite nice though, and if we all had h22's or f22's it would be kind of redundant. so to each their own..
