Default OldSkoolDa91's 91 DA build thread

what's up everyone? some of you know me from the da squad thread already and the rest of you may have seen me around here or maybe not. but for those of you who know me, you already know a lil bit about my car....but for those who don't, here's a lil background on it:

i bought my car in the summer of 04 at the local auto auction for $1500 which was a steal back then. i loved it from day 1! it was 100% bone stock and MINT! i put an intake and exhaust and a da gsr wing on it and loved it. then one day on my way to work in the ice/snow, i slid off the road and slammed a few banks. being young and dumb, i thought i really messed it up (all i needed was a radiator to fix it) so i left it sit and let the insurance run out and all. BIG MISTAKE!! finally, last summer (07) i put it back together after having sold the swap out of it in 05. so, since last summer to current, here is what i've done with it, and what im working on for it. hope you all enjoy....

first day of owning her

now the jump to 07 when i started working on her again

no motor, lowering her for the first time on cheap coil over sleeves

coil overs on and slammed for the time being

who wants some camber???

so now we jump ahead a lil more...i get tax money back, go to a junkyard and buy a motor and tranny for $400, install it, runs like a champ, was given some free 17 inch wheels, put them on, bought and installed some da front leather seats, put in a new windshield since i broke my old one, my gf bought me some jdm fenders and i put them on as well. so here's how it looked at that point...

blew up the motor due to a bad oil leak. put in a b18b1, spun a bearing in, this time due to fried piston rings and not keeping a good enough eye on my oil level. then put in my b20 which is now in my hatch due to DESTROYING my driver side motor mount, and ripping the other 2 as well. but here is what i did to it in the midst of going through motors....

different wheels

installed a 92-93 front bumper

shaved my hatch emblems and filled the infamous rust spot

put on some ls mesh wheels

and now we are up to date...9-29-08 and here's what im working on, and parts im starting to add up for my build

my tein super streets and my sparco wheel w/ adapter (fronts are already on, forgot to get a pic)

driver side rear installed

passenger side broke the bolt off, so i had to cut it out and now i have to get a new bushing before i can install the last tein

this is what my cut off disk looked like after cutting off my strut (also used it for something else before, but my strut finished it off, lol)

all jacked up to cut the strut off

and some parts that are waiting to go on/in
my auto meter gauges

crower stage 1 cams
aem true time cam gears
skunk2 intake manifold
arp rod bolts
acl rod/main bearings/thrust washers
have a b18b block i will be building
might be missing some things but it is 2:15 in the morning.

so i know its a long *** first post but had a lot to get out of the way. with that done, it will be back to a normal build thread from here on out. thanks for taking the time to look and comments are welcome. and yes, i do all the work myself with the very occasional help from some friends.

ok, so i decided i would try to post up vouches for parts i've purchased from users on here (if i miss somebody, please let me know)
in not particular order:
turbodav-oil pan
91tegraRS-windshield
tegman23-clutch set
1badda-mounts
gsrturbo-ek-arp wheel studs and p75 ecu
ITR.#1446-itr brake booster
EKAndy-arp head studs
hb420-seal/plug/thingies lol, not sure what they're called
d16y8turbo- greddy type s bov

i know there's more, but i deleted the old messages from my inbox

lol stevo, you would! haha. but the wheels are maxxim advance, they are a by-product of konig wheels. this style is actually discontinued. but they just dont set my car off the right way. but the ls wheels do! haha.

yeah, i LOVE my sparco wheels too! one question though, i tried to put it on my da yesterday but it would not clear this piece....what do i need to do to take it off? i didnt have time to mess with it at that point.

it would not allow my hub to sit flush like its supposed to

thanks man.

soooo, here's what my friend and i did today...

so who needs some parts?? lol

haha, dont worry, this was my parts car (expect to see a full black interior conversion coming soon). and yes, my parents have a farm which is where my shop is, so that explains the tractor. and that is my friend in the pic, not me.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT...DO NOT TRY THIS METHOD AT HOME!!!

ok, so there's my disclaimer, but it worked very well for removing the complete rear suspension, and front suspension as well. but very dangerous at the same time! we were very cautious to say the least.

has anyone every realized how much damn wiring is in the car from tail lights to head lights, not including the engine harness??!?!?!!!?!!??

holy cluster [freak] batman!! i bet this thing weighed at least 15 pounds or better!!

ok, so there's my first update, sort of. lol

Does your DA have cruise control? My RS doesn't have any of that fancy stuff, so my hub slid right in. I'm guessing you have to pull the plastic over off the column and just remove it.

Are you rocking a momo hub?

funny...i dont see anyone else makin fun of me cept for you. but its ok, i know you're just jealous!

oh, and by the way, my gf and i think your son is very cute and handsome, unlike his father! hahaha, but seriously, how old is the lil guy?

yeah actually do have cruise control, currently. but i plan to remove it. i hardly ever use it and its just extra weight, lol. i was plannin on poppin off the plastic cover as soon as i get a chance to see what i can figure out for takin that "fancy" piece off. lol. and to be honest, i have no clue what hub it is. it came already installed on the wheel.

quick question about my sparco wheel...does anyone know where i can get the horn button for it? it was missing when i got it. i cant find any on ebay or on sparo's site and i'd like to have my horn...too many dumb ***, **** poor drivers around here. not to mention deer. i dont want my baby bein crushed once i finally get her all done! i would

Just get one of these, it should fit fine, as long as it's a 2" hole
http://images.google.com/imgre...a%3DN

My sparco doesn't have a horn button in the middle, just the two side buttons

Maybe you should get one of these, it's like the prancing Ferrari Horse, but for country folk

Oh and Andy, Get off my DA's HONDA KEY ....it's all in the details my friend.

yeah i was actually thinking about that honda button. i just wasnt sure if it'd fit right or not. guess i'll find out once i get the cash to buy one. i just spent 200 in tools this past week plus another 100 in parts so im kinda strapped at the moment.

idk bout that dancing moose or whatever it is, lol.

and damn, wish i had an original da key! only thing i have is a damn walmart key

Yeah, I feel yah. A lot of my money has gone towards buying the tools I needed to work on the car. I mean, I had a descent amount of tools, but bought stuff like the cherry picker, stand, grinder, welder etc.

DUDE!...The moose is MONEY!....I'd rock that on my car if it had a hole for a horn.

Well, I actually got that key at the Honda dealership. You don't even need to take your old key, just take your vin# and proof that the car is yours and they make it right there, it's all in their computer system.

*cough* SUCK MY NUTS *cough* hahaha, sorry sarah...i like my sparco for right now. unless someone wants to trade me.

so a very small update...

received my obd1 distributor from Circusraven today as well as my 3 eagle rods and probe pistons...i got them from another user on h-t for a deal i couldn't pass up. i will probably end up selling the pistons, buying another eagle rod, and buying either weiseco pistons or je pistons, not sure what compression just yet though. i was supposed to get a gsr head for doing some work on an integra of someone i know, but they seem to have flaked on me. big surprise. everyone around here has been flaking on my lately and its pissin me off!!

FLAKERS FTL!!!!!!
