1998 GS-R just died help =((
Hi,
This morning as I was pulling out the driveway, I went through the little speedbump and as soon as I crossed it (going less then 5mph), the car just died. I tried starting it again and it would crank but not start. What can be wrong? I changed T-belt at like 30k miles ago. Anyone with insight? Thanks!!!!

I think i'm getting spark? How do i be sure of that? It cranks, all the lights light up. It just stalled while it was running. :*(

pull the plug wire closest to the timing belt. stick a screwdriver in there and place it close to a bolt on the valve cover. have someone crank the engine you should see spark between the bolt and screwdriver. hondas are notorious for ignition coils just going out.

could be yur main relay also. listen with yur ear over yur backseat. when you turn yur key to the on position you should hear yur fuel pump prime. it makes a little buzzing noise. try unplugging yur main relay then plugging it back in.....it is located under the dash by where yur hood popper thing is

Pull a plug out, put it back in the wire and rest it on the valve cover. Get some one to turn the engine over and see if the plug sparks or not.
Let us know if you have spark or not and we can go from there.

No it couldn't. If he can crank the engine, then it obviously has enough battery power.

Agreed. Check your spark and fuel first.

First thing I did was pull the valve cover to check the t-belt. As soon as I know it's not the t-belt, everything else is not a big prob. I'll check for spark later today, as I work the 9-5.
Dude, check your main relay like that one guy stated above. There's a writeup somewhere on how to DIY re soldering the terminals on the main relay. Due to constant rising cabin temps of everyday basking in the sun, it makes the soldering points brittle and they tend to crack over time.
It IS WITHOUT A DOUBT your distributor, you need a new one, trust me, or take it apart and look in there you'll discover that the cap/rotor is more than likely bad. Its one of the most common and only things to go wrong with your Honda, so save yourself the frustration and just fix this part.
A distributor problem would also occur like right after you hit a bump, I don't know if its just coincidence, but my friend's integra's distrubutor blew out when he hit a speed bump as well... just a thought.

^^^ lol what's the hammer for? I'm not an idiot, I really do know what I'm talking about, and yeah, it could be those other things mentioned above, its just not as likely, or as easy to check, which is why I suggested checking out the cap/rotor because I have run into several hondas with this problem and fixed it easily.
