Quietest exhaust
Planning on picking up a civic in the next few weeks. What is the quietest exhaust out there. My eclipse is pretty loud and I want something to be more low key. I remember when I had my se-r apex ws2 (I think) was really quiet, do they make those for civics or is there something more quiet?
Car will have intake/header/exhaust.

stock
but in all seriousness, ive heard Vibrant makes some quiet ones (cant remember what its called). they do make WS2s for civics which sound pretty good.
Both are fairly quiet exhausts, and if you want low key looks as well, they both make matte black versions

Thanks</TD></TR></TABLE>
yeah theyre expensive, but you generally get what you pay for with Apexi. I think the vibrants are cheaper, but im not sure.

I have an apex n1 on my eclise and love it, but that thing is 3" turbo back and I paid about the same amount as it is for the civic.</TD></TR></TABLE>

^Vibrant site. you should be able to find something to fit what your getting on there. they have universal and direct fit systems too.

Vibrant makes nice mufflers, but they are way too expensive.
Just have a muffler shop build your exhaust- whatever size piping you choose, 18" resonator, and an oval muffler- you'll spend less, be quiet, have good flow, and not attract attention.

i have the vibrant flat black muffler, wid some custom 2.5 piping from vrsexhaust.com. i ended up getting a magnaflow hi-flow cat and magnaflow 22in. resonator too off ebay. if i remember correctly i spent about $280 for all the parts. And most importantly its pretty damn quiet, even @ WOT. would totally recommend it if you are willing to find parts individually.
My sister's d17a2 in her 02 ex sounds excellent with a thermal research cat-back. The only major difference under 4200rpm between it and stock is the tone. Deeper. Just a tiny tiny bit louder. Above 4200 it sounds louder but not much. I seem to recall the guy ordering the part giving her a choice between to levels of volume though. Anyway, I like the way it sounds better than almost any exhaust I have ever heard on a 'd' before.
Stock.
When my stock exhaust rusted in front of the muffler and behind the resonator, I just replaced it with a stock muffler (painted matte black) and a stainless steel b-pipe. Put the stock exhaust finisher on and it's perfect.

I run an OEM airbox, cat, midpipe resonator, and Tenzo R axle back (quieter than the OEM muff) - and my ride is quieter than stock... really!
I suggest you do the same, if you want stealth!

Hmm, And pics of the tenzo R axle back? Wonder how it sounds with a header.
Also can you hear the vtec kick in with the aftermarket muffler? I took this stock car for a ride and heard NOTHING. It was really quiet.
Then again I have no idea when it kicks in.

I completely agree. I haven't used an "off the shelf" exhaust in years. Always a Magnaflow oval muffler and a large resonator. I'm partial to the 22 inch resonators myself. The result is an exhaust that flows great, is quiet, and sounds deep with no raspy sound to it.

Vtec you hear more when you add the intake, short ram obviously you'll hear more than cold air because filter is in your fender, changed mine from cold to the short ram and wow, my little D16Y8 sounds like a B18(w/out the power lol)
