CRX battery relocation
Anyone done this or know what is involved?
I want to relocate my battery to the trunk... do I just extend the wires and mount it somewhere or is it more complicated?
Thanks

Its that simple, just make sure you make a new GOUND WIRE. scratch the paint off where ever you are going to the gound, and make sure it is Tight !! You may want to upgrade the battery too, it is much harder for the battery to send the voltage all the way across the car.. GOOD LUCK.
PS: If going to though the fire wall, use a gromet ( its a pain, but worth it )..

If you have a normal battery, you need to have a sealed battery box. If you plan on going to the drags, and assuming they actually tech like they should, you will need a sealed box, with 5/8ths bolts going through the floor of the car holding the battery down, and you should have a cut off switch that cuts the car off totally (alternator and battery signal).
Get a box if you don't have a optima battery even if you don't plan on racing. Also, I highly recommend using 5/8th inch bolts to hold the battery in. The small stock tie down bolts aren't going to hold up in even a slightly bad accident.
Also, fuse the hot side to avoid potential fire hazzards.

I don't know - I'd be a little nervous about just the battery back there. I've got an Optima yellow top in a Moroso box. Especially when I put stuff back there, though between the box, sub, amps, rollbar, and tower bar, there isn't much room back there anymore.
A box won't set you back much, either, and it might be worth the peace of mind.

go to your local WAL-MART and pick up a batt box for a couple of dollars. then go to a junk yard and look in the cars for a batt tie down. the one with two metal poles on either side and drill holes in the batt box for the poles and now your batt won't slide around.
Very important to put a fuse on your hot side and for the ground you can drill a hole through the car near the bumper and just put a bolt through and tighten.

I would suggest a MUCH better mount for that battery. If you get into any type of front end collision, I guarantee that battery is going to fly right into the back of your head.
You don't really need a box when using an Optima, and you definetly don't need a sealed box if using an Optima (Optimas are sealed batteries). I'm planning on relocating my batter in the 'rex, what's a good price for an Optima?
