Default Bad ECU?

I bought a skunk2 chipped p28 ecu and now vtec surges as it pulls.... It like cuts out intermittently.
The p30 ecu that was in before never did this.

It seems for sure that the ecu has a problem. but I was wondering if anyone else had ever had this problem or heard of anything like this???

Thanks

i dont think its a bad ecu, more like a bad program--to eprom burn. If you had a stock chip im sure it would run like normal again.

I just think it has to be the ecu, since the stock p30 didn't have this problem. All my vtec wires have been checked for continuity and I've pulled the soleniod off to see if the screen inside could be clogged - But it looked fine. The engine has a good oil level and doesn't use or lose oil (so, the pressure switch should be give out the right signal)
It's not noticeable that it cuts out in first or second (I think because those gears go so quickly that there isn't time for it to studder or cut out)
What else could I check?

like i said...
Possibly whoever chipped that ecu didn't have a good eprom burn or maybe something is loose and/or not completely soldered.

Default Re: Bad ECU? ***UPDATE***

Actually I think I may have figured the cause of the problem.
The ecu and vtec work fine - but only when driving very very mildly. So, I'm saying that if I drive down the road and I'm just cruising normal, and then decide to wind out a gear - the vtec will work perfect.
But... If I'm in vtec for a long period of time and I'm driving the car very hard the vtec will start to cut out more and more as I drive it harder and harder, until finally it throws a check light and I have no vtec at all.
Let the car sit for 20 mintues or so and go out and then drive normal, wind out a gear... vtec is fine, works perfect. Then start driving hard and it starts not working again (studdering and cutting out)

My belief is this, and I wanna see what anyone else has to say. I have a bad ecu, There obviously is something wrong with it. Do you think it could be getting to hot, because of driving hard? I don't mean hot like from the exhuast and the floor or the heater or anything.... I mean getting hot from working too hard almost like with an overclocked PC? I my opinion, its getting hot and then stops functioning properly.
Does this sould like it could be the problem?
