Well, they say it happens to everyone at some point. I went down on Hwy 33 today.
I was able to ride out, but barely. Pics to follow.
PS It looks likes BW on the 6th is out of the question

Damn man, sorry to hear. Hope everything is allright with you and the bike. That's whats matters, you will always be able to ride again another day
It happens... it's part of motorcycling. As long as you are okay and you can get the equipment back up to mechinal snuff, then carry on.... Sounds like a low side, ankle and wrist okay?
And I just finished making some cosmetic upgrades; tinted double-bubble and solo cowl went on 2 weeks ago. Here's the before pics from last week...

And now for the fun stuff...

And now for the gear shots. I was wearing my Berik full leather suit, back protector, A* SMX boots, A* SP1 gloves. If I wasn't wearing gear, this would have been sooo much worse. WEAR YOUR DAMN GEAR.

Bump on my left elbow

Bump/scrape on my left shoulder

Well, it looks like track plastics will be on the way in a month or so. In addition to saying that this happens to everyone, they also say that you"ll know whether or not you'll ride again after the obligatory first wreck. I'm still going to ride, but I'm probably saying goodbye to fast canyon runs. Thanks for looking

I feel your pain just had my first monday night as well thanks to a deer. Tried to avoid it went off the road and locked the front brake in a panic because I was headed for a thick wooded area and bike flipped end over end a few times and was barrel rolling a few times..this is what I seen out of the corner of my eye.
Lucky I had on my gear, helmet saved my life and jacket and gloves saved my skin. Landed off the pavement so didn't mess my gear up too bad and lucky somehow didn't go into the trees or I would have been killed easy. Bike is ok, its an RC51 lost the front cowl and left headlight, both handle bars, clutch reservoir, brake reservoir, rear cowl, both mufflers, shifter assembly, left radiator and maybe some other little things i can't think of.
Bike runs, chassis and forks are all good, just going to make into a street fighter for now..lol
Mine was just unfortunate but I'll have it up and going in a week or so. Already got some parts on the way!

And here I had plans to go to buttonwillow on the 6th. Guess I won't see ya there.
Lowsides don't damage both sides of the bike..hit the dirt and flipped? So what exactly were you doing/what happened?

As for the street fighter? /sigh way to ruin such an icon for honda.

Ya, I lowsided but the bike did flip.
Essentially, I came into the corner too hot and eased off the throttle, leaned, and realized I wasn't going to make it. I made the conscious decision to go for it and try to brake as much as possible before the gravel. I was probably doing around 45-50mph when I hit the dirt, the front end washed out followed by the rear. There was a cliff with a huge dropoff at the edge of the turn, which I knew, so I am lucky to have made it how I did. I hit the ground with my shoulder and rolled/flipped over sideways a couple times, then skidded up and into a pile of dirt and rocks.
From the pictures you can see that one of the frame sliders snapped off entirely, most likely having caught on the edge at the road drop-off and flipping the bike over. The other slider was bent, but saved the frame from more damage. Lowsides are usually caused by rider error, and this is no acception. I'm just glad I made the choice to wear all my gear, thus saving me from a worse ending.

Again, I'm glad that everybody is okay and will continue to ride.
I've been down 3 times, all lowsides. Once was in the rain on my Ex500, once in the snow on my TL1000R and once in the canyon on my Ex500. Full gear every tme, and minimal damage to the bikes.

There was a group ahead of me, but I don't know that I was 'chasing' them. I had my flow down and my rhythm was good, but I underestimated the turn. It's a decreasing-radius sweeper with limited visibility. You should see the outside of the turn, the spot where I found up; it's practically a pic-your-part yard for bikes. Mirrors and plastic bits are scattered all over.
On a side-note, I was not the only casualty of the day on Hwy 33. Another Santa Barbara local went down and was pitched off about 25 feet into a ditch at the bottom of the mountain range. He was OK from what I could tell, but his bike was TRASHED. Luckily, he was wearing gear as well. The medics were on-site quickly, too.

There's your problem. There are ways to make it around the turn if you come in too hot but that's not one of them. More then likely if you leaned it out and stayed in it you would've made it. I've done the same thing as you before and pulling up and trying to run off is the worse thing you can do. I'm glad you're alright though. Wrecking sucks

Thanks, man. Ya, the bike's pretty much OK just a little crunched. Lemme know when you find a TrackDaz event you're gunna do. If it's late summer then I'm in!

Sorry to hear, in the end, **** happens, you learn something from everything and both you and the bike are fine.
Speedy recovery and get out there again soon.

Why don't you quote the entire post? Selective reading is my forte, but with your years, I would have assumed it wasn't yours. I see ignorance doesn't change with time, perhaps immortal wasn't telling lies.

The RR switch to a SP1 i'm sure was interesting. I could see how you'd regret it.
