Default My first motor build! Sleeved B16a2

This project has been six months in the works and it finally was cranked up the other day! im pretty excited.. still a lot left to do but should be tuning in a week or so. Some background first.. I pieced together a small (14b) turbo kit last year and actually blew up the motor (all stock 94k miles) with it.. turned out to be a crack in the vac line to the FPR.. leaned out under boost and broke ringlands on two pistons.. so tear it apart and build much BIGGER AND BETTER! Ive been pretty busy for the last six months.. the car is being painted satin black soon.. i wanted a very durable engine bay so I stripped it down with aircraft stripper.. smoothed.. wire tucked.. primed.. sealed and then used spray can rubberized undercoat on the whole engine bay... turned out great. the car was already AC and PS free so.. time to get rid of the heater core.. and strip all sound deadening.

here is a quick rundown of the motor

completely stock head other than complete tear down and cleaning and new valve seals.

Z10 Eng. 84mm sleeved and o-ringed b16a2
Z10 Eng. block girdle
Micro polished and balanced crank (OEM)
JE 84mm 9.5:1 pistons
JE pro seal nitrous/turbo rings
Eagle H-beam rods
ACL race bearings - mains and rod
ACL thrust washers
ARP, main studs, head studs and crank bolt
New OEM water/oil pumps
Hondata IM gasket
Omni 4bar map sensor
Wiseco MLS head gasket
MSD Blaster SS coil with MSD cap and wires
All new seals of course!

AND no the 14b is not whats staying on there i ran out of money so its gonna work for a few months.. gonna try and crank 18-20 psi outta it...

looks good, but for some reason i strongly dislike your turbo oil feed line coming from the vtec solenoid.

i believe thats one of the coolant lines because the turbo is liquid cooled, u can see 3 different lines and one is going to the back of the block

exactly.. took out the heater core so im left with and in and an out meant to flow together anyways so I had some 6an fittings welded to where the heater core would have been hooked up and viola! turbo coolant lines.. i figured they would be a good idea on this old turbo.. im about to give it the beating of its lifetime!

Lol is that tiny thing even turbo? That must cause some real back pressure and high EGT:s. Be careful with that.

it is what comes stock on the turbo Mitsubishi's.. yes its small.. but must work for now.. after blowing $4000 on the above... no more more money for a bigger turbo right now.. ill be going with one of the following... Turbonetics GTK 550.. Garrett GT35R.. or Precision SC61..

New intercooler for the car! its brand new.. its bracketed for a 240sx i think.. its XS Power (i know i know.. dont wanna hear it) but ive looked it over really well and it looks great.. its huge! welds are solid and the beads are nice and the price i paid i almost couldn't say no.

that IC is serious overkill for the time you're running that 14b. Probably gonna have some big pressure losses thru it.

Nice motor build, clean engine bay man!

I mean dont crank up boost too much with that turbo. Because of heat and back pressure.
Engine and bay looks really nice

FINALLY hit the dyno at the ImportNC dyno day at National Speed.. this is all on crome basemap.. no real tuning yet.. ran a bit lean the first run and pulled out of it.. cranked the FP up 5psi and she did just fine.. this was with boost spiking to 20psi =P hard to keep the boost down on that lil 14b once it spools.. when i did a half throttle pass after installing the MBC it was only hitting 14-15psi anyways enough of my blabbin.. i was happy.. i was only expecting MAYBE 250 out of her.

PS.. just from looking at the graph if anyone has any suggestions to make any quick changes before I go get some real dyno time.

Good numbers but in my own opinion, 273hp is a low output for such a setup at 14/15psi ....

14/15psi ON A 14B! not to bad. but with A/F's like those, bad things might happen, doesnt matter if its a built motor and a tiny turbo, things can still break

yea nobody was expecting it to make that much.. I had to look twice at the screen after the dyno run. i was HOPING for 250 and didnt think i would make that... im kinda hoping ill be able to tune 300 out of it when i get paid this coming friday... ive got alot of timing pulled and it could use some fuel in the middle and can loose a bunch up top..
