TNT (aka Turbo Nitrous Tuning)
ok... here is the deal with this shop... iv kept my mouth shut about this thus far but im pretty fed up now
TNT (Turbo Nitrous Tuning) opened up last summer over in Bayshore, NY. The owner (who opened it) many know as "JD." Since day one when they opened i was over there. I got to know him real well as well as Martin who started working there (ex-Fizz Motorsports employee.) I started to hang out there more and more until i was there everyday. I was like an employee... i helped out on everything there without asking for anything.
At the same time i was busy trying to get my car together and i am getting parts little by little. I get offered a race car with a blown bottom end for a good price at one point months after they opened. I buy it and actually end up selling 90% of the parts on the car. All this time im still collecting up parts and giving JD money to get me parts.
Then the idea came up with my manifold design to make an "igloo" type intercooler/intake manifold. I buy the cores for the intercooler for roughly $900. Plans are in the making for how to make it. At this same time i have many of my parts over at TNT. I trusted Martin and JD over there so i figured i had nothing to worry about.
Considering how close i had gotten to them they trusted me as well. Iwas over there house all the time; went out with them at night, etc. Im there one night working on my car and veryone that was there wanted to leave. JD gives me the keys and tells me to just stay and lock up when i was done. Ok no problem i though. I was opening the shop with him in the mornings as well so i figured it was no big deal. I had the keys for a couple days just because they were never asked for back. I had them for about 3 days and then JD just asked for them one day when the door was locked and he didnt have the keys on him. So he got the keys back.
The next morning he calls me up and asks where a kooks manifold and turbo were left. I said they it was right where it always is... right inside of the shop in this one place. He said it wasnt there there. So he looked some more. I went to take a shower and he called me and left a message and said there is more stuff missing. I get over there as fast as i can and the kooks manifold/turbo was missing, 1 of my turbos were missing, another guys turbo, my tial wastegate and a 46mm tial wastegate.
I walk to the back of the shop which is really hard to get to where the back door is. I find that it is unlocked and tell JD. I thought this was odd because this door is never unlocked... and half the time i would make sure it was locked. But the past couple weeks cars have been blocking it so no one could really get back there. The night before i was not there before they left as well.
Time goes by and eventually they start acting wierd towards me. Up to this point i have been there almost everyday since they had opened. I slowly stop coming there as much. One day i walk in with a motor mount i made. I show it to JD. I walk towards the door to go to into the shop are where one of their buddies was standing. He says to me "u cant go back there." i was like "huh?" i said that all i wanted to do was to see if it fits. I look at JD and he asks "did u make it to spec?" i say "yea, but i just wanna check" considering my car had a dummy motor in it at the time. he says "well if its to spec it should fit" i say "it is but i just wanna try it out in a car without a motor." he says "well thats not my problem." i was with my friend at the time. we didnt know what was up so we got up and left.
time goes by and this is months ago now... prolly around april this happened. i got most of my stuff out of there but still had some stuff leftover which i would try to get but to no avail. also not knowing what would happened if i walked in there by myself trying to get the stuff.
the reason they began acting wierd was because they somehow got the idea that i was the one who robbed them of the missing parts. the same people i helped from day one and chilled with everyday were accusing me of takeing the ****... and taking my OWN **** as well!
this is what they still have of mine:
-caps to a gsr block which i asked for before and they said they couldnt find them
-msd digital 6 ignition
-custom je pistons
-painted wing for my civic
-gsr crank
-they owe me 2 turbos and a 35mm wastegate
-paxton external fuel pump
-$900 for the intercooler cores
couple more things ill add as i remember
i call them today and martin anwsers. i say whats up as usual. i ask him if they are going to give me the money u owe me. he says "what money?" i tell him the money for all the parts he owes me. he says "we dont owe u any money; u gonna give us the part s back?" i tell him "u know from day one i didnt take that ****. he tells me "why u come down here; we have proof..." i say "u know what... u have my money by next friday or ill see you guys in court." he says "go... go try it mother...." then i hung up
thats my story.
here some history. JD the owner of the shop is the engine builder that worked at the old "AXZ Tuning" before they shut down.
about the shop...
-there was a lexus gs300 there for an fmax turbo kit waiting to be put on. it took about 3 months to finish it
-theres a civic hatch there wiating for a custom turbo kit... all it needed was ic piping for the past 8 months... it still sits there
-theres an si there with a custom turbo kit on it... all that needed to get done on it was a new dfi install... the harness was in the engine bay all out of the loom to be installed... its been sitting in that condition since the winter
-it took 2 weeks to make ic piping, install a safc and do a timing belt on a my friends 1st gen dsm
to my knowledge some of these cars were actually supposed to be tuned today... ABOUT TIME!!!
another they had in there... a hatch for a h22 install and dfi... took countless months to finish it. the night it was done they call the guy up to pick it up... he lives over an hour away and his friends drop him off... all the guys at TNT are "test driving" the car on and on. All of a sudden they dont come back for a while. What ended up happening is they got on the parkway gunned it and there was a wierd noise... they let off... then they gunned it again and the wheel fell off the car. to make a long story short they put a spare on and found the rim the next day in the woods
-i would get there some days at like 6 in the evening and all the cars would still be in the bay... nothing would be touched
-one person who came in to have pistons installed... JD would never get to it... then one day when he said he was coming down... he quickly opened the box... and just put the rings on them... and the pins and rods together so it looked like it was getting done... then on a test drive the oil line fell off (it was an ls/vtec)
-i had one of my good friends go to them... he ordered a turbo from them and thats one that got stolen. he ordered it back in the winter... he still hasnt gotten the money or a turbo for it... he went there today fed up... everytime he calls martin tells him "JD isnt here" so he finnally went there and JD told him he was broke... he also asked for the fuel pump and crank im owed which i sold to him back then and JD says "i have none of Toms stuff here." he said to come back next friday
there are countless other stories... i think ill stop here now
cliffnotes: got fucked over for alot of money... u make the call

Man the same thing happened at the shop i work at. Somebody ordered a carbon fiber hood for a BMW from us and when we got it it had been damaged during shipping. The guy had prepaid for it when he ordered it. Anyway we apologized to the customer and told him that we'd get him a new one as soon as UPS paid back the money for the insurance(we've had other stuff damaged on shipping and UPS usually takes no more than a few days to pay). The customer said that he had no problem waiting for it since his car was at the bodyshop getting repaires after a front end collission. So UPS started ******* around and wouldn't pay up, the customer got his car back and was demanding his hood or his money back, we kept telling him that we were doing everything we could to set him straight so he started getting impatient.....next thing we know we get a letter from his lawyer demanding the money back and the letter said something along the lines of:
The law states that if a customer pays for a pruduct or service and is not satisfied with the quality or this is not delivered, the customer is entitled to a full refund.
Anyway the MotherF.......threatened to sue us so we had to give him the money out of our pocket and we still waiting for UPS to pay us.
So what i suggest you and your friends do is talk to a lawyer and have him send this people a letter like that. The law is the law and if you guys end up going to court no matter what they say you'll still get your money back.
Good luck

Maybe they robbed themselves?. That happened to me and a BUNCH of guys. The guy that did it is named Gene Quick. He's a REAL old skooler, and gay to boot. Anyway, he ports heads and builds custom carbs. He had opened a new shop back in 93 or 94, and I had some Dodge 360 heads up there being ported, 2.02 / 1.60 stainless swirl polished valves installed, 3 angle, Comp Cams springs/retainers/locks. Well my buddy also had some stuff there for his Nova. His dad had some 69 Mach 1 Mustang (big block) parts from a car he had purchased BRAND NEW in 69 (oil cooler, intake, etc that were removed when he got the car home).
Well one day he got "broken into". What did I get? My heads, with stock Chevy valves, not the Manleys I was supposed to have, no valve job, and the Comp Cams valvetrain set I gave him was missing. Who steals valvetrain hardware and leaves a badass set of heads behind?
Anyway, we found out later he had done this before, about 5 years or so earlier. He was apparently robbing himself, collecting the insurance, then selling the "stolen" parts elsewhere.

Tom, you really need the get things straight. Nothing will be solve by posting this crap up here and hiding behind the keyboard instead of go down there and talk to JD face to face and solve the matter like an adult. I've been JD's customer about 5 years now and I have to admit, sometimes it takes a while for him to finish a project because he is the ONLY mechanic that's working at the shop. And yeah, you have to be patience to be his customer. His costumer always go back to him, period (even the lexus guy that you're referring to in your post). All the local shop in NY know JD. And EVERY single one of them know he is Legit and the most honest guy you can ask for. Is he a good mechanic? Just ask around all the import pro shop in NY.
One of the stolen turbo and manifold was mine and He bought me a brand new turbo, manifold and wastegate, will he replace all my **** for free if he stole it himself? People in here who don't know what's really happen won't get the whole picture might think you are the victim here. But all the shops and ppls here locally know whatsup. If you try to open a shop in NY area....good luck. You are done!
Anyway, As I said before Instead of trying to attack and bad mouth JD behind the keyboard, just head down to TNT and bring a lawyer with you if you're scared and talk to him face to face. Oh and Bring your friend Miller too, maybe he got something to say.

i know tom and he's a good guy. he wouldn't risk saying all this if there was no truth to it. and we all deserve fair warning with all the shady ********* out there doing so-called "business." so, you had a good experience with TNT? that's great. someone else didn't.

Hey Guys.
Tom could talk all the **** he wants about the shop and JD BUT he's knows the real story and he's not telling it to you guys.
First off it's impossible to get in the shop from the back door even if it's left unlocked.
Secondly JD now has proof that TOM and Co. were actually responsible for the missing items in the shop. So Tom you could come up with all the stories you want but when it comes down to it. Your at fault.
Hey TOM when most people are owed something especially,as big as the list as you have, they would go to the shop and try to get it back.
WHY aren't you, could it be you feel guilty about something?
Also these are matters that should be dealt with face to face. So get up off your *** and go see JD and settle it. Don't make posts about it.

sounded like he did try to get something back and was refused... I must be reading a different post.
now I dont know either people or anything and I am sure there is more too this than what meets the eye, but **** happens.
shops always start mad drama... given you cannot make everyone happy.
anyways if your really serious take them to court or persue legal action... why **** with them and provoke more **** talking back and forth (it gets you nowhere fast).

as far as TNT goes,i have heard alot of **** about them and the stories are never good. i heard about the kids tire falling off and i have heard that every motor they build drops valves. well anyways as far as Tom and Miller go they dont deserve this **** they are good guys and they are always there to help me out. whenever i or any of my boys need help they are there to do it. and since they have not yet opened a shop they never even ask for money . if you want i will get 20 people to post with stories of them helping us out. thats my $.02.
Tom is a great humble guy. he has been working hard on his project for a long time now and he doesnt deserve this. i wonder why someone would give the keys to a person who is not even an employee..........VERY INTERESTING
and not filing a police report!!! ..........i think ive read enough. GIVE HIS MONEY BACK!!
