I bought an 06 CRV 6-disc radio for the R. I bought one for my old hatch and loved it because of the in-dash changer and it lit up amber. I paid very well for this radio because of the condition. I just got it today, but dumbass didn't know how to package it. He only wrapped it thinly with two layers of the small bubblewrap. He just stuck it in a USPS priority flat rate box. He charged me $18.30 for shipping and it cost him $12.05 with insurance. I mean, the guy could have bought a newspaper with the extra money and added it to prevent the radio from rattling around during shipping. Now I have to deal with USPS to file a claim and who knows how long that will take. In the meantime, I will have to search for another CRV radio (which doesn't pop up too often). And my current CD player doesn't work
Pics of the damage:

The broken off piece isn't too bad. But the cracked face plate and stuck "1" button is.

I want to make the insurance claim before I remove the faceplate to unstick that button. I'll let you know Rob.

well I was joking, but since I don't have a radio in the car... for the past 3 years
It might be nice to have some tunes, if the price is right.
But do your thang first.

This just happened to me. I bought a used a-pillar for my gst. I recieved it in 3 pieces. It was only 25 bucks so not worth the hassle of trying to mess with the seller. But I don't think people realize how abusive the postal/ups services are. One of my old roomates worked for ups, he told me howd they play baseball, and try and recreate the ace ventura, hds delevery.

Ditto. I'd be venting too.

I work for a shipping store...any time we ship electronics we're pretty much required to double-box them with bubble wrap and 2" of peanuts. It can get expensive though, so a lot of people, especially sellers on ebay, cheap out. UPS does tend to be rough on packages, mostly because it's damn near impossible for UPS to fire a wayward employee for union reasons.

i worked for ups during there busy season when in school. packages where kicked and everything else i got to see it first hand. when you first start you have training for a week on hand to surface and how to handle packages but nobody paid attention.

as far as shipping charges are concerned to the op. you also have to factor in time, and gas used to get the packaged shipped...

Sorry Rob, but USPS took the radio as evidence for the insurance claim.
USPS.com states the claim should take up to 30 days for me to receive the money, but the clerk at the post office said it could take up to a year.
