Default 3rd gear issue finally pin pointed hopefully

I took my car to my local honda dealership for the recall of the brake sensor and o-ring seal. While I was there I told them of the 3rd gear issue we have all been having. They had 2 technicians drive my car and I got lucky that they noticed it as well, even noticed it going to 4th gear. The service advisor told me that ( dont quote me exactly cause I maybe messing this up but pretty sure) it is the synchro bearing. I will double check that but im pretty sure thats what it is. He said its not letting it slide into gear the way it should. He also informed me that they had to do a fix on a honda accord a week earlier for the same problem.

The honda accord also had the same problem as I have read some say they have had, that is the car popping out of gear. The part is ordered and I should have my car back within 2-3 days. Since it is still under warranty, they got me a rental at no cost to me.

I hope this helps everyone one out in this situation. I did call honda corporate and let them know about this as well. They made a note of it and I did tell them and have told them about the problems we have been having. Will let you all know if this indeed fixes the problem.

Cool fix.

HOWEVER, what I wanna know is if Honda will be replacing my 2nd and 3rd gears as well. 3rd has grinded many times because of it not being in all the way due to resistance.

2nd gear grinds quite often if I just shift into it at high RPMs without extra care. It shouldn't be like that and I think it deserves a fix as well.

If they can prove that a mod was the direct cause of a problem with your car, then that problem will not be covered by the warranty.

Seriously.

I have the problem but it isn't often enough for them to be able to replicate it.

I bet it will get real serious just outside the warranty period

I posted this thread hoping that I could help everyone out in this matter. I know its a tiresome subject, and at the same time, alot of us are tired of dealing with this problem. I was trying to finally bring a resolution to the problem and what did I get, damn near bashed for it! Thats not right, I'm not hurt truthfully I dont care if you guys with negative attitudes never get your cars fixed. I just tried to do the right thing. Hate it or love it, we are all brothers and sisters in the Civic world. We are the top import car drivers and we should act like it!!

We have been trying to have a recall done, well I made a step for that to happen. If you dont care then fine, If you do thats great. Dont have me for trying to hate though. If you do, thats you, my car is fixed. Is yours?

To all the guys on here that want the problem fixed. Just give me the number to your local honda dealership and I will give it to my local honda dealership and hopefully they will tell them whats up. I cant make them do it of course but I can call honda corporate again and I will if need be. Honda was interested in what the problem was for what it is worth. I got lucky with them replicating the problem, real lucky actually! All I can do is put the word out to the other honda dealerships the best way I can, by the service advisors, corporate or by calling my damn self and letting them Know. If you want something done, holla at me, if not keep hating! Kick me off the site for all I care, I just tried to help!!!!!!

I live in Maryland and I cant get the Bel Air, Md honda dealership to replicate the problem. I hope you can tell the dealership you got yours fixed at spread the word to them via e-mail, fax, phone, etc.

- Thank you

Let's see what happens on monday.

alright im not tryna get pissed at you but stop tryna be GOD here.. EVERY DEALERSHIP is aware of the problem. this problem doesn't happen to every SI BUT it happens enough that a service bullition was posted for every dealership to view. now if it affected EVERY vechile made from "time A" - to "time B" then a recall would be sent out... now if it does happenen to you if im not mistaken warrenty for trannys has been extended past 3 years now... SO if this problem DOES happen to you but not as often DO take it to a dealership let them kno you are having problems in "so n so feild" allow them to make a work-order so they will have it on file let do the test they do and if nouthing is found just keep on driving until it happens more often.

NOW the tech that gets your car WILL DO (so should do atlest) drive a known-good vehicle under the same conditions as the customers complaint, and compair the shift quality entering 3rd gear. if the customers vechicle has noticeable shift quality problems, replace 3rd gear set... "it is uncommon for there to be some resistance or notchiness when shifting into third gear"

and i think they drive, shift into 3rd then enter WOT (wide open throttle) and thats how they see if it pops out of gear...

AND last but not least warrenty CAN be voil with aftermarket parts that are related to the problem... IE: even if you add fance colourful piping over stock piping warenty can be void n other BS like that which i think it retarded to void **** likat that....
