Start my car, Engage Clutch, Screeching Sound from pass. Wheel, Only when cold (I searched)
I've been having this problem for the past week or so on my 94 Del Sol. When I start my car after it's been sitting for a couple hours, there is a loud screeching sound (like if you slam on your brakes and skid, not like a belt.)
It's coming from the passenger side wheel area, and ONLY does it when the car is cold, under extremely light load. It happens around 1500-2500 rpm's then stops once the rpm's go up. It also NEVER happens when the car is warmed up. It only does it in first gear.
Here's the thing, while this sound occurs, it also feels as if the wheel is not spinning with the axel, like there is no spinning power coming from that wheel.
My initial thoughts were a CV axel. But I've never heard of it making this kind of noise before, and, if the axel/boot were busted, it should happen while driving at all speeds. Also if it were the axel, I'm pretty sure if you the busted side would not be getting power at ALL speeds, not only initially when I barely give it gas in first gear, while engaging the clutch, only when the car is cold.
Thanks for the help, and I searched.

99% sure that isn't the problem. I know what a bad belt sounds like but this isn't that noise. Thanks for your input though.
When this noise happens, the passenger wheel doesn't get any power. That leads me to believe its not a belt. It seems like something with the clutch/trans, because it only does the sound while the clutch is engaging.

Unless you have LSD only your outside wheel will get power. If its when your in gear then you might want to check your flywheel bolts. They can become loose, or where your clutch fork is held on the tranny housing, that ball joint thing needs to be greased or it will squeek
