What got wet?
This is just a question to satisfy my curiosity. The problem seems to have just been caused by something getting wet, but I'm not sure what exactly could have gotten wet to cause this symptom.
So I washed my engine bay the other day. I ran the car the entire time as I always do. I have never had a problem with any car I've done this to before.
I sprayed the Simple Green on. I let that sit and then sprayed the entire engine down with water. I never mask anything off (and have never needed to). I don't aim directly at the distributor, battery or alternator though.
Then I dressed the belts, lubed the latch and cleaned up the rest.
I walked inside for a second and when I came back out the car was off. I reached in and the keys were still in the ignition and there was still power in the car.
I started the car and it started right up but the idle seemed low and it fluttered. I revved the engine and it seemed to hesitate.
So I took it for a drive and first gear felt fine. I put it in second and it felt fine at first, but then bogged hard. All the other gears were fine.
After a few times of testing this, second went back to normal.
What could have gotten wet that caused just second to bog?

Well, the car was running the entire time I was washing. I'm thinking moving around might have caused the water to blow off of what it was in/on or shake off of what it was in/on.
I'm just not sure what could have gotten wet to cause this.

my guess would be tps, but who knows. like stated above the water must have evaporated eliminating the problem. i shut my engine off when cleaning and the only thing i try not to spray is the intake filter and havent ever had any problems afterwards
