I have done this swap. You need,
1. 97 up sunroof glass.
2. 97 up sunroof brackets.
3. A buddy to help.
4. small phillips head screwdriver
5. 10mm to remove the old sunroof after you remove the interior cover.
6. Remove your headliner and a pillar covers.
7. There is a metal tab that you will have to grind off of the new glass.
OK, after you remove your old sunroof and brackets, attach the 97 up brackets to your sunroof slider rails. Then attach your glass roof to the new brackets. There is a write up that used the existing brackets, if you cannot get the new brackets you can use the old ones. You will have to drill out a hole on each side though. I personally would not do it this way. Anyhow, after you get your glass attached to the brackets of your choice, you will notice that the glass sits too high. Get some washers , or body shims.
Now, loosen the 10mm bolts that hold the whole assembly to the roof of the car. This is where you might want an assistant. Your car will be slightly different from mine so you will have to see how many washers or shims will be needed. What you are doing is spacing the whole assembly down to make the glass nice and FLUSH. Good luck.

From what i hear the fifth gen brackets makes the 4th gen sunroof motor struggle, which doesn't make sense to me, but I'm in the process of completing this conversion using the fifth gen brackets.
Here are the pictures of the glass roof on my extra fourth gen assembly, note the front is slightly higher than the rear when fully closed:

I did this swap a few years ago. Not very hard at all...did it by myself in an hour or two. I used my 4th gen brackets since i didn't have the 5th gen ones. Haven't had any problems so far.

I'll do a write up from there on if you wish, I could find pictures of the parts I cut already.

No problems with mine yet. I have about 2 or 3 extra motors anyway. But yes the front 6 bolts are the ones that I had to shim down.

Very nice. I could have done that , my friend took his whole assembly out of his 5th gen. I don't think I need the slider that bad though. Props on the mod though!!!!!

you dont have to remove the head liners or a-pillars or any trim if you dont want to to do the instal. just have to open the sunroof enough to get to the bolts. basic mods include redrilling the holes on the 4th gen brackets to accept the glass sunroof bolt pattern (fth gen brackets wont let it sit flush), grinding off the tabs on the front of the glass sunroof, and triming the molding to let it sit flush on the top. here are some pics of the brackets to see the dif and also where i grinded off the tab on the glass sunroof and a finished pic...

also i dont think it would be the brackets making the motors strugle. from what i understand the glass sunroof is a little heavier so on an old 4th gen sunroof motor the extra weight is likely what causes more stress on the motors.

It pops out like the fourth gen roof.
And the person who told me his motor struggled said it didn't with the fourth gen brackets, which is why I'm saying it makes no sense, UNLESS the brackets were somehow touching something.

here's the diy. http://www.superhonda.com/foru...13452/

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by BUILT93ludeSi &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">also i dont think it would be the brackets making the motors strugle. from what i understand the glass sunroof is a little heavier so on an old 4th gen sunroof motor the extra weight is likely what causes more stress on the motors.</TD></TR></TABLE>
The weight really isn't a big factor since the roof is only moving horizontally. If it was moving vertically, the weight could have an effect.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Apex1972 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">question, how does that 5g work does it pop out of the roof like the original 4g or does it retract into the roof??? please excuse my ignorance!!!!!</TD></TR></TABLE>
The roof will retract exactly how the original 4th gen one did.

but he installed a 5th gen assembly. I thought that one retracted into the roof and did not pop out. however, the 4th gen roof does not look long enough for that.
