Default BPi Velocity Stack Comparative Dyno Thread...

This thread's purpose is to compile the information gathered in my 'research' (i.e. Dyno time), into a search friendly topic, pertaining to gains/variables of using the BPi velocity stack.

Initial modifications:

- TODA header
- Omnipower testpipe
- DC Sports 2.3/8" exhaust
- AEM CAI
- Stock ECU/No tuning

Base line:

169.83whp/121.28ftlbs

Numbers after adding my 'home grown' cut down AEM 3" CAI, to an SRI, with a BPi velocity stack, and K&N filter. The exhaust, and all other modifications remain the same, still no tuning.

174.88whp/128.71ftlbs

After installing new OEM spark plugs, and running it from operating temperature, 5 times each (i.e. Letting it cool down to the same level as prior testing variables). Both with the K&N filter installed on the stack, and without the filter on the stack. Still no tuning.

Red: BPi stack without K&N filter
Blue: BPi stack with K&N filter

183.70whp/132.98ftlbs - WITH FILTER

Over all, going from an initial 169.83whp/121.28ftlbs, to 183.70whp/132.98ftlbs, by adding a BPi velocity stack/K&N filter, with no tuning, is money well spent.

Comparative tests to come:

- AEM 3" CAI with BPi velocity stack/K&N filter, and without K&N filter.
- 3" SRI with BPi velocity stack/K&N filter, air boxed, and heat wrapped.
- Tuning with Hondata S200.

These tests are soon to come.

EDIT: If you're like to know where to buy one of these setups, refer to This thread, best $95 I've ever spent on a car.

Nice JorZED, someone let this man borrow a Mugen intake, though I doubt the number will beat the cut AEM with BPI vs... still would love to see...

Plus it's brand new.

I hear ya'.

Well, the dyno's not going anywhere, if someone wants to send me their Mugen intake, I'd be more than happy to test it, and see how it stacks up to my $100 'home grown' setup.

good research i took my car out for a stroll last night and with the bpi stack and k&n i figured an additonal 8hp on the butt dyno..

but in all reality, my bpi set up on the stock arm pulls hard up on the top end.

It'd be nice to see if there was any change in A/F. Good numbers!

old setup was :
2.0L B18c1 11.5 compression
Portflow Gsr head M22x
Victor X IM , 70mm TB , SMSP b19 header
AEM ITR CAI cut to short ram
94.9 degree F

peak gains =
BPI with K/N 226 whp 149 tq
BPI w/out filter 233 whp 153 tq

no gains before 4.5k
3-5 whp 2-3 tq from 5 to 8k
peak #'s on top was at 8800 rpm

dyno was back to back with same tune with 91 oct and full exhaust .. a/f did not change

*disclaimer*

I'm all for new info

How about the difference when heat soak is affected? I'm sure as the intake temp rises due to the SRI config that the affected HP numbers go down.

Good info none the less.

Yep, I'm interested in the #'s with the AEM CAI and velocity stack, but none the less velocity stack FTW
