July 4th AutoX at the new Beaverun facilities in western PA! (videos)
Yesterday, the new Beaverun (http://www.beaverun.com/ might be down now) motorsports complex held an autocross...this wasn't a very publicized event, indeed they decided to do it just a few days earlier, but word spread quickly. The road course has not yet been completed, but they've got the vehicle dynamics area (GIANT gorgeous flat patch of super-sweet asphalt) down, and the even more fantastic 8/10ths mile go-kart course. There were maybe 30 cars there to run, I ended up getting 5 runs on the very fast and fun autocross course, and 5 runs on the go kart course (offs were not allowed...1 wheel off = DNF, 4 wheels off = Go Home). Somewhat unfortunately, i was trying something new with manual focus on my camera, which did not work as well as autofocus, so 2 of the 3 vids i grabbed are a bit blurry (not too bad). Encoded with DivX 4 Fast motion.

My fastest run on the go-kart course, I did 3 runs on my kumhos (this is the last of those), then moved down to the autoX course...after that, i was halfway done switching my tires back to streets when they annouced funruns on the go-kart course, so i was unable to get any more runs on the V700s after this.

One of my better AutoX runs...there were 6 cars in my run group, and up to 3 could be on course at once...so i got my 5 runs in the span of maybe 15 minutes. This was my 2nd run.

My 4th run on the go-kart track, 1st on street tires (aged Pirelli P7000s). The car definately spools up quicker on the lightweight volk/p7k combo than on the stock rims with heavy V700s. In car is a fellow autoXer, who was enjoying his first ride in an R. I did not handle the last slalom well
They're thinking about doing these regularly...the go-kart track is fun as hell, a mini roadcourse...w00t! Can't wait till the big track is open
