Default building B18B motor.....

is building a b18b motor to be all motor non VTEC worth the money? i have I/E right now and was wondering if its worth it to change pistons and stuff like that or would it it be better with VTEC or a Turbo.

It depends, your not going to see as great of performance as say an all motor VTEC buildup, or a nice built turbo set-up.

most people are gonna say go for something with vtec...yeah it will give you more hp if you have a turboed b16 @ 10 psi and a b18b @ 10psi the b16 will have like 10-30 more.. i stick with b18b's cuz its fun having 300+ hp in a non vtec

The b18b is by far the better motor to turbo than the vtec motor. Especially the b18b because of the compression it allows you to run a higher boost on the stock internals. From what I understand is that vtec and turbo really don't get along. Turbo the b18b rather than going all motor and you will definately be satisfied. Just my opinion

turbo and vtec get along fine. The better breathing in the higher rpms provide good gains with a turbo.

The higher CR ratio is why the b18b is better out of the box for a turbo. Low CR pistons in a C1 will fix this problem.

I agree, all motor B18B is going to be very expensive for the gains. But if you want to, there have been allmotor LS's that got into mid 13s.

N2O/JRSC/Turbo kit is probably the most cost effeciant way.

Yup, you can build a mild ALL Motor with N2O setup

Just remember, internal mods have to coinside with your N2O setup. If you get high CR pistion and lumpy cams, then spray, your not going to be happy for two reasons.

You will loose some of the N2O out the header with the large cams (same idea as a turbo), and the higher CR could easily cause detonation.

I ran a 50 Shot of dry NOS system on my LS hybrid for awhile. Stock internals, with new fuel pump, regulator, and some msd goodies included the window switch. It was night and day difference. The car just strait up hauled ***, and when i got the clutch and fly wheel put in, it hauled even more ***. I am now turbo, cause i have a heavy foot and didnt feel like pay 30 bucks every time to fill the bottle cause you do run out and thats the price you pay with Nitrous. IMO, the best way to go, and get the most power gains for the cheapest price with b18b is forced induction all the way.

Keep the B18B and build it for boost or all motor... There is a guy here in Dallas that has a B18B in a Teg with cams, springs and retainers, port and polish and Type R tranny and he's beaten every Type R I've seen him race... That car is bad-*** for all motor... ...

straight up. b18b1's rule! i've got a second head that I'm prepping for boost (JRSC) on my B18B1. B18B1s tend to have more torque, if you check out the stats for a stock LS v/s GSR...the LS has the same amount of torque. plus, you've got a lower, more boost friendly CR, and you don't have the extra rotating mass the VTEC includes (the third cam lobe, it adds up!) and VTEC is antiquated technology, nothing to get excited about anymore. VTEC only gives you two choices....that's my 2 cents

Actually the B18C engines have lighter internals, so the even with the third cam lobe it has less rotating mass then the B18B.

Yeah, I've heard a fair amount about him. I was lookin for other fast B18B's and ppl keep talking about him. I wanna go on the bottle but tht would involve either race fuel or retarded timing.
