Default Honda-Challenge Videos from Summit Point

What a weekend! The races were great! Thanks to Andy(8400-RPM) for crewing for me, and thanks to Willard for helping me get the camera mount in the car when I was running out of time before the race. My biggest problem this weekend was wheel balance, as I kept losing my stick on wheel weights, when the adhesive melted under extreme temps... and the duct tape I was using for safety was melting as well... so I spent the time between races rotating tires, re-taping weights, and re-adjusting tire pressures. Over-all it was a lot of fun, and it was really great to be out there racing with such a great group of guys, with great track-etiquette. Hats off to all the workers who kept us safe, and all the NASA crew who made this series possible, and of course to our founding fathers, Scott and Karl.

Now, here's a few videos from Sunday's Race:

Race Start (somebody stalls, Karl gets stuck behind, time to hit the dirt):

A video clip from turn 10 back around to turn 5:

A CRX goes off inside Turn 10:

David(#50) drops 2 off exiting Turn9 and recovers, but loses position to Matt(#33):

I go into Turn 1 a little too hot after a pass, and decide to use a little dirt:

An H1 car slows.. and lets us by:

Enjoy!

Robert, I can't get the one of David spinning in front of me to open. The others were great though! You actually caught all three of my close calls from that race on tape! Great job!!!!!!!

I believe the #50 part of the filename is confusing our web browsers. I'd suggest renaming the file.

Great action and absolutely ear dropping videos. I definitely brought out my headset and cranked up the volume.

You have the stock final drive? If so that straight at summit is FAST! 4-5 at 115-118, then you get deep into 5th. 130+ maybe? (I'm still listening to one of the clips repeating in the background as I'm writing this )

Thanks!

Thanks Matt. The CRX in T10 was damn close... you can see me lift, even in the turn for that one.

I obviously downloaded all of them, and I can't tell which of my 3 close calls was the closest! I JUST missed Karl's back bumper, but we were going so slow that it wasn't quite so dangerous. Ken spun out just in front of me in turn 10, and I had to make a VERY quick decision as to which pedal to use to make it out of there clean. I just jumped back on the gas and made it past before he crossed the track. It's a shame for him, because he had me on power, and could have EASILY passed me between 10 and 1. I still think the turn 9 incident was the closest though. You can't really tell depth from your camera's perspective, but if you watch, I was close enough that I didn't track out through 9 because I was setting up to pass him in 10. When he came back on the track after correcting from going 2 off, he just came directly into my path. I went for the brakes at first, but then I saw the chance to drive around to the right. It was very very very lucky!

I tell you Rob, you gotta stay away from those damn CRX drivers!

yeah that was pretty damn close! Good quick judgment and I'm glad it turned out that way.

I remember Scott J. post some time back a clip of his incident where it didn't have such a happy ending... with heavy contact between the two rexs as the yellow one came back on the track and took him out.

Speaking strictly form the video (not taking into account any other factors), getting a CRX to go straight again after getting it *that* out of shape is *not* easy to say the least. All you CRX drivers know what I mean! Once the rear steps out like that and starts going back and forth, it's over (well almost always ).
