Search Amazon.com for books on cylinder head performance/porting. Read them, they will only tell you about 1/8 of what there really is to know. Then youll need to pick up the equipment and start doing it yourself. It will be a while before you get really good. Then your about 3/8 of the way there. You will learn some advanced concepts, maybe learn how to flow test, and do some machine work, like cutting the seats and the such. Then youre about 6/8 of the way there. The last 2/8 is what seperates the men from the boys.

Good luck.

If you're going to learn how to modify cylinder head castings, make sure you have plenty of spare heads and plenty of spare time. You'll need plenty of both.

SIZE, SHAPE AND TRANSITION QUALITY IS EVERYTHING

Take some measurements. You maybe shocked that you don't need to "port".

Isn't this what they make you tatoo on your arm when going to porting skool so you never forget.

The Cajun Porting Skool I went to the instructor in overalls said if you do this "IT GONNA FLOW, IT GONA FLOW FOR A HUNNED YEARS, YOU HERE ME BOI !!!!"

I have a blown b16 casting. You really dont want to learn how to port though.

maybe he could start with cleaning up minor casting flaws, and maybe some texture to promote a homogenous mixture that were all after?

on another note without knowing what your really doing and the real world effects of your "mods" unless you have a flowbench who really knows exactly what effect you had, i know i have practiced on a few d16 heads, got one im satisfied with, a couple with overly large ports that will most likely really only shine in a small rpm range making for a more "peaky" honda motor than they already are.
