Default finally got my Hondata tuned, wanted to share numbers and some pics

first off i would like to thank Joe at Locash racing. he is a super nice guy and knows his shiz.

HP was around 155
TQ was around 120

tuned on a dynajet, and i was not really concerned about numbers, i just wanted the car to run better, and be TUNED. my mod list is pretty minimal heres a breakdown of the parts that count:

p-28 with Hondata S200
top fuel "warm" air intake w/fujita filter
megan header
omni test pipe
3" kakimoto cat back
Skunk2 valvetrain

i do have a bit of an oil consumption thing going on, which maybe why kinda below average numbers. i pointing to a bad control ring, not really sure <insert your advice here>

on with the pics, thanks to TRE_ my brother http://www.trevorgillphotography.com

honda city (wow):

me and the R

engine bay (dirty)

the goodness

my favorite pic of the day

If those numbers were for the City then i'd say, "cool", but if they are for the R then i'd say, "yikes"!

Gaining 10whp from going back to a stock intake? I don't know about that...

Why the 3" exhaust? I'm curious.

Nice car.

I dont mean to be rude. But i see some things to be concerned about.

First, about the integrity of your tuner.
if they are willing to try and tune the car around your oil consumption problem which is evident by the oil smudge on the rear bumper, there is a question of integrity. They SHOULD know it is not worth your money to tune and tell you to fix the problem and comeback when your running correctly.

Second, I would also be concerned about his know how. A tuner who is estimating a 10hp gain from ANY intake that isn't mated to a 4 foot long velocity stack is questionable. Not to mention your "tune" netted you some nice low numbers.

good luck with your project i would recomend finding someone new.

Ditch the intake and the header, fix your oil problem and get it retuned. Why you would tune a motor thats obviously not healthy is beyond me.

because im not sure of all the problems of the motor. i thought i had it all fixed, but i guess not.

Nice car. </TD></TR></TABLE>

the 3" came on the car when i had it. if you search all my threads in the past you can see what a nightmare this R has been. I have tried very hard to make it a good car again, but my lack of "king midas" touch is haunting me.

sorry for failing the R community so bad. im really thinking of throwing in the towel at this point. i have a very sick wife, and a child to take care of.

feel free to flame me with the pity party story.

Joe really is a good tuner, and i would never question his integrity. he tunes all of the Full Races cars, and he used to work for Hasport. He knows people at king motorsports.

The problem is not the tuner, its my motor. Which is really messed up for some reason. I dont have tons of money to throw at it, as mentioned.

This tuning session pretty much buried me. I bought the S200 almost one year ago, if that gives you any idea how long it takes me to save money.

Not trying to be a dick, but this car is haunted and i need an exorcist. Or a new Mugen civic.

true, but its even more than that. i question those mods in general. why the hell does it have skunk valvetrain? that means the head was removed and i question if everything like valve lash was correctly adjusted during re-install, etc.

dyno numbers are really just numbers but any time something like this comes up you have to question it. a bone stock R with just s200 can put down better numbers than that. id like to see the dyno chart too to see how smooth the curve is (or isnt) and see the a/f. and if possible, get another car that has been dynoed before on another dyno, and dyno it on this dyno to see how close the results are.

Did the car use to be turbo? That might explain the 3" exhaust and the burnt rings. Good luck with your R. At least it's pretty.

no i dont think it was a turbo R before. i actually found the previous owner:
https://honda-tech.com/zero...00335

what a expletiveheaD i have always wondered if it was FI before though.

it is pretty from a distance, the paint is not good at all though.

thats my biggest problem. the car needs paint, a new bottom end, and a lot of other annoying misc. things that i cant list.

i know that ill never have another R again, but im tempted to sell it and start over. however, i have dumped over 5 grand into it in the last 8 months, not to mention all the years of labor, sweat and tears(literally)

need direction

I feel your pain. I've been there many times, and that is why I drive a stock type R instead of some 500 whp monster. Good luck w/ everything.

Wow. Those are some pretty low numbers. Why not sell off the intake, header and exhaust and buy some used OEM ITR parts. Might yield a better result.
