It's just shorter gears. I like the GSR gearing myself.

yeah it has shorter gears. If your trying to improve 1/4mile times, it will help slightly because acceleration is better with the b16 tranny. If you drive on the highway all the time, its probably not the tranny for you.

that's not much worse than a gsr tranny. it's not all that bad. i'd trade my gsr tranny for a b16/itr anyday.

What i did was trade my apexi vafc2 v-tech controller for a jdm b16 tranny so i put the stock lsd that came with it along with its 4.5 final drive and its 1st and 2nd gear matched with my gsr 3rd 4th and 5th gears.Let me just say its an awsome combo i get the lsd which makes a world of a diffrence launching and turning corners then i get the short 1st and 2nd and on freeway i got the longer gsr 4th and 5th so its not so loud but i like it better than my stock gsr tranny and my cousins type r! And i dont have to worry about my vin. number couse its all in my gsr tranny jdm ones dont have em to cops it looks like its stolen and that gets your car towed here in cali.

B16 tranny, open it add an LS final. With that slam threw 1,2,3,4, ad cruz in 5th.
No such thing as an after market quiet system when vtec hits it hits.
So yes it is definatly worth it, and if your not satisfied with it there at least 1,000
hardcore street riders looking for one that would be more then happy to take it off your hands in a heart beat.

usdm itr tranny's have the same ratio's as b16's only itr's have an lsd. 96-97 jdm itr's also have the same ratio's as b16's. only 98+ jdm itr's had different gears.

It's an awesome trans. A cheap alternative to the ITR trans. You can even get it with LSD...so it becomes pretty much like an ITR trans.

It will probably be the best bang for your buck. The GSR trans sucks real bad. I've driven both...owned 3 cars with a b16a and a car with a B18C. I almost did trade a B16A trans for my GSR trans...but the guy backed out. I generally disliked the B18C1....except for it's good low end/mid range.
