Power Enterpise timing belt!! Need help!!! Possible Problem!!
First off, how many of you have power enterprise timing belts and how long have you had them on? My setup is as follows, toda b camshafts, toda cam gears, toda valvetrain, and ti retainers. I just recently had a local honda dealership put on my power enterprise timing belt and this is what it looks like after just 1000 miles of driving.
Anyway, i need to check this sheet out, but of course i dont know how to do it. That is why i had honda do it for me. Just wanted to let you guys know about this, and i was wonder how long people have had their PE belt on with toda cams. I'm sure honda installed this belt with the helms specifications. Maybe they where suppose to put it on a little tighter. Eitherway, this could be a major problem for all of you people installing PE timing belts along with toda cams. I had Willard install my toda b cams with stock timing belt, and after 6000 miles of driving on a stock belt, the belt look perfect, infact it still looked brand new.
And now this sheet happens to my PE timing belt after just 1000 miles of driving on it. Should i trust this sheet, or should i take this belt out as soon as possible. Damn it cost me close to 200 bucks for the install from honda. Either way, im putting the car out of commission for a while. Anybody's help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is it rubbing the inside of your timing belt cover? They could have, I doubt it, left the outter timing belt guide off...

Looks similar to my OEM belt that was new with my Toda B install(professionally), it had 2900 miles on it when it shredded off ten teeth going down the interstate. In those pics I can't tell if those are threads or if its an actual split in the rubber teeth. Becareful, I had both, luckily I had no noticable engine damage.
I'm not 100 percent sure cause i dont recall looking at my b16a pe belt that carefully, but im looking at this b18 PE timing belt that i have right now, and it doesn't look anything like the current pe belt i have on the car now. I do not see any of those markings at all. What i dont get is i've only had 1000 miles with this belt and it already looks like this, as you can see from the picture not every tooth has that cracked mark, leaving me to believe that this is not normal. I don't know if this is normal for sure, that is why im asking you guys. But i was just curious because i noticed it today and it's worrying the sheet outta me. How long have you guys had your pe timing belts on for?

well i just put my PE belt on today, but i ran 5500 oem miles and 2800 toda B miles on my stock belt and my stock belt looked like it was in MINT condition.

According to the picture , the belt is definitely touching somewhere to cause the belts' damage. I think the Honda dealer didn't put it on properly or they misplace the washer plate behind the crank pulley to cause this problem.
I think you better replace the belt before some serious damage happen.

I would take it back to the dealer and tell them they didn't install the belt right. And for their mistake I would make them pay for a new belt and intall it for free.
One thing i did notice right after the install was that my car made a loud rattling noise. I thought it was just that the timing belt was much stronger, now i dont know.

Damn, Toda Bs are scaring me.. If the dealer installed the belt improperly, it's gonna be hell getting them to ADMIT it,(if they do admit an error) and have them pay for a new belt and install. Maybe you should have an experienced tuner like Sgt look at it. Isn't he from VA?
Good luck and let us know what happens..

Yeah, i'm thinking that the dealer forgot to put the washer plate back on to the crank pulley. Just to let you know, not all dealers use the Helms manual. Some people think they are confident enough to do the job without it.

Yeah unfortunately the only way you're going to know, is if you take it apart
And if it happens that the washer plate is still in there...maybe you got a bad belt or honda over tensioned it. When you take your valve cover off, check the tension of the belt on the top and sides.

I want to be able to make sure i can point it out to honda, instead of just dropping the car off at the dealership, then Honda fixing it and then telling me that the washer was already installed on there in the first place.

I took off my valve cover, to see if these markings are seen on the other side of the belt. When i inspected all of the teeth on the other side of the belt, they all looked perfectly fine. I also looked to see if the cracks went all the way across the belt, and they actually did not. They went diagonally down parallel to the normal marked patterns of the belt. I'm going to drive around a little more with this belt, and monitor this very closely. In any case, im gonna have honda look at it and check out that nasty noise that i've been having ever since i had this belt installed. I dunno if this is the belt itself, anyone else's pe belt really loud?
Here are some pics, the first one is pretty bad quality, it is of the cracked side
Here is the other side without cracks

If you are hearing any whining noise with your belt, it is tensioned too much. Is that the kinda sound you're hearing?
OT, but youre toda cam gears look really nice

haha, thanks, its not a whine, its more of a rattle, especially at start up. Sheet rattles bad, then smooths out a little at idle.

Well everytime i start my car in the morning, my car makes some pretty scary noises. Even when i had my stock belt, it would chatter like crazy for like 2-3 minutes. Once the car is warmed up, it doesn't make that sound. Is that the sound you're hearing? Or do you get that sound whenever you start your car if its either warm or cold?
Yeah that is the sort of chatter, but the problem is it never happened until honda touched it.

i had that same nasty chattering noise on my itr. when i first put B's in with stock valve train it made the noise when i would first start it up, then it would go away. but if you drive with your driver side window down with stereo off. listen real close and you can still hear the little chatter. i dont hear it any more, because my timing belt is missing a bunch of teeth
but its getting fixed this week
