UPDATE: 5/16/08 - 196whp 140wtq
UPDATE: 5/15/09 - 203whp 140wtq
august 08 - car did 14.7 @ 96mph with a 2.5 60' on street tires, and me not being able to drive lots o fimprovement coming next year...

well ive been working on this for a year and a half now, and never started a thread, so i thought i would share.
it all started in August of 2006, when i had the idea to build a motor since it was the one piece of car work i had never ventured in to. so obviously a honda was the choice for low cost of parts and TONS of info.
so i spent a good 2 months planning and researching and decided on an ls/vtec build, and picked up a used ls block, crank, oil pan from a friend for 100 bucks.

he didnt have the main caps, so i grabbed a gsr setup so i had the girdle.

then i snagged some p30 pistons/rods for 30 bucks on ebay

block got painted a nice black and a fresh hone

p30's got pressed onto some shot peened ls rods and threw in the arp rod bolts

and then september came and i left for school with it sitting like this for storage

then in late september, i totalled my car, and needed another asap, and surfed cragslist for hondas so i would have something to put my motor in eventually (the plan had been to just find a shell eventually), and i came across a 97 civic ex with some nice carbon fiber altezzas on it and 180k miles for $2000, and i snagged it up. so after a promise to my parents that this car would stay stock, these showed up at my house at school.

so i threw them on asap obviously along with some blox lower control arms so i didnt have to mess with the probably rusted bolts.

said bye bye to these in favor of a set of 99-00 red/whites

now the fun really began, since i had a very well paying job at the time
exhaust showed up

then with the money i got from parting out my wrecked car, i accumulated a huge pile of parts

and then hit a roadblock, i could not for the life of me find a gsr head. but finally found someone parting out a wrecked gsr, and got the complete head and boy do i mean complete (dizzy, manifold etc) for a steal

i came home for winter break that year and went to work on the head, removed the stock valvetrain and put in my skunk2 goods and tapped/plugged the oil galley.

skunk stuff in

got some work done on the block too

hmmm this doesnt look right tho....

****, when i found i needed to replace the crank i got with my block, i got sold a b16 crank.....

unfortunately i fully assembled the block with the wrong crank which would have given me about 6:1 compression or something rediculous like that

this is not me, just my boy that was helping me

disassembled everything and compared the two cranks, im sure you can see the difference in the counterweights.

then i picked up a set of wheels, but the tires were al ittle too skinny but i had to throw em on just to check em out.

and the *** end
picked up a jdm **** sir lip

picked up a skunk2 shortshifter and weighted ****

and then i came home for the summer for the real work to begin.
found a correct ls crank, and reassembled the motor and it was looking pretty

then i had one hell of a friggin time finding a b series tranny. but through patience found a gsr trans from an 01 gsr with only 50k on it for yet another steal.
here you can see the trans and a peak at my #1 of 300 bronze innovative mounts

it finally came time to do my first swap...with the help of my dad.

all done in like 6 hours

almost there

got it up and running without too many snags, but it was already july.

so this is where i was exactly 1 year after i began this whole deal.

i got just about 1k miles on the car all on a basemap, since i had no money left for a tune and it was time to go back to school, and i had missed my goal of making honda day.
so that brings up to this past september...
i picked up a set of rc370's and a professional products 70mm tb for nice prices as usual, but then one day in surfing HT i ran across a rediculous deal on a set of twm 50mm itb's which happened to be ported and polished even, and come with rc 440's

so over thanksgiving day break i had to get them on the motor

so thats where we are at this point with whats actually done. now heres where its going.
i traded my stock single cam for rear disc and 100 bucks.

then i got some fresh rotors to go on em and some hawk hps street pads, and hps race for the front.

and heres the pile of parts sitting in my room at the moment to go on in the next month while im home

motul rbf600
stainless brake lines made for the conversion, and an ss clutch line
NGK blues
remote battery terminals
walbro 255
earls fittings and lines to redo the fuel lines and aid in the clean look to come with the wire tuck.
then, i finally found the header i had been searching for for very very long. an an-r street compact with a burns merge collector. again as usual rediculous deal. it just needs some new heat coating.

i will be going for a tune either over spring break or as soon as i get home for the summer. will be switching from crome over to neptune so we can do a tps based tune to run the itb's.
so thats where its at, i have a few things up my sleeve, and a few more goodies on the list before this car is done. its goal is a serious street car with the ability to go on the track with no issue.
so lemme know what you think, any and all comments are welcome.

i havent had it running since i got the itb's, had issues getting a basemap, and have to reco the fuel lines since the twm rail needs an fittings.
