Default Got into a car accident Nov 5th, insurance is considering my car totaled. =(

After finding out that i got accepted into CSULB, I called my parents, had a chat---blah blah...Decided to pay them a visit so that I could show them the letter, talk about my schooling, etc.

I was driving on the 57N about 15-20m away from my rents house... It was around 6:45 and there was still mild traffic. 50-70mph varying lanes. I was on the #1 lane next to carpool.

I was following an SUV with a car length in between us. Next thing i know, the SUV swerves to the right very hard and misses the car in front of him. I look in that direction and then back on the road right away.

Next scenario is a car fully braked in front of me! WTF! With normal reaction, I slam the brakes and tried my hardest to swerved out of the way to the left into the car pool lane (luckily no one else hit me).... so I rear ended the stopped car on her driver side with my passenger side absorbing all the impact. My jdm front isnt even half a year old.

Girl in car claims that she stopped because the ******* in front of her kept riding his brakes. So she kept telling me it's that guys fault... But I knew I was fucked either way because I rear ended her. That guy got away & the driver of the suv got away unscathed. There goes 1 point on my license (havent had anythin on my record for years!!!). her car may be totaled (rear quarter panel damage).

I have AAA as my insurance and they are considering my car totaled. 95 JDM front Integra GSR turbo. I owned her since 2000 and was my first car.

The insurance people are picking up my car tomorrow. I was wondering if I can strip stuff under the hood right away or just wait until they let me buy it back.

When and if I do get it back, I'm stripping the car and selling everything...

My 95 GSR before (lasted 1 year):

Recent overhaul (installed the front end end of August 2007):

Never even tracked it or ran it at the dragstrip
RIP: 2000-Nov 5 2007

CLIFFS: totaled my car, insurance is picking it up tommorow
I am planning to buy the car back so that I could strip the car down and part out everything!!!

My god...Im sorry to see that

I am really sorry to see about your loss, hopefully things will get better for you.

I mean, the engine still looks good , if you get insurance money for the car...you might be able to start a new project

stop posting, take your tools out, and go strip everything turbo related from your car. I've seen far too many of my friends rides get gang banged while in the junkyard. All the yard will do is shrug and say "we're not liable for theft"

The turbo stuff:

manifold, intercooler, piping, turbo, downpipe is still on the car.

It has not been appraised by the insurance company. They are picking up the car tommorow. I am trying to buy it back ASAP so that the junkyard cant take anything off the car.

Wheels, lip, dumptube, wastegate, bov, electric exhaust cutout has been taken off the car.

cloudreason: when I get the highres pic back at my house, i'll email it. you are talking about the photoshopped one right?

True story. Happened to me. Must have been morons cause all they got was my Valentine One radar detector. Little did they know how rare the Spoon cluster I had in there was.

I hope that isn't towards me.

I had so little room for error. Maybe if I had 3-4 car lengths, I wouldn't be in this situation. So, to me for following too close.

Forreal, espicially those annoying *** daily drivers that cuts and tailgates you even when you're doing 10-15mph ABOVE the speed limit or when you have half a car length cushion in front of you and they will try to squeeze in this happens to me like everyday in my teg! and I can't risk to crash it!

The parts I really wanted that I was not able to take off:
exhaust manifold, turbo, downpipe, testpipe, Tein HA suspension, other misc suspension parts, sparco pedals, little things here and there under the hood.

The insurance company has not appraised my car yet. I believe they took it away this morning and is gone. I am trying to get in touch with my claims adjuster to let them know I want the car back right away!

dang man, did you just not have time to get that stuff off or what?? If it wasn't covered under insurance then they have no right to it and you should get all of that stuff.

sucks man, you're one of the OG's around here like me

Remember that the car is your car. The insurance company can pay you the blue book for it and be done with the transaction. You do not have to let them have it. They can look at it to establish a damage estimate, not take it against your will.

What? If the car is totaled, they pay you the blue book value (i.e. they just bought the car) and take it. You cant get the check and keep the car. Thats not how it works. If you want to buy it back they have to know BEFORE they hand you the check. They will tell you what they are paying you for the car, and what the buy back is. Once you sign over the title, they cut you a check for the value and take the car. If you want to buy it back they take that price minus the value they would pay you and you keep it.

Thank you for all the support everyone. As soon as I get the car back from the insurance. I'm parting everything usable out. That may even include my *MINT* Volk LE-37T with 95% thread still left on it.
