Default A thank you to HT AM section

I would like to thank everyone on this forum fo there inputs on my build. I got good advise from xDickTonesx, Clean Rice, Golden Eagle, b19 coupe, and Whooppee Doo Racing in particular. I posted a whole bunch about 6-7 months ago on getting parts, and now I am finally together and rolling, all broken in.
What I got: 1993 del Sol S. 2156cc B motor (1cc smaller than H22)

An LS VTEC with a GE sleeved 85mm block.
Eagle 95mm stroker kit. (H-beam.)
11.4:1 JE pistons.
GE LS/VTEC kit
RM M24x cams and SL VT
Ported head b16 PR3.
Hondata IM gasket
S2 Pro Series IM
S2 68mm TB
Top Speed 4-1 header w/2.5" collector
Vibrant High Flow Cat
Custom 2.5" exhaust (mandrel)
2.5" Flowtech Terminator muffler
RC 310s
Walbro 255
NepTune RTP.

We don't have a tune on it yet, just a basemap and injector compensation. Motor is broken in and I have been romping on it for about 3-4 days now.

Vehicles owned: 2003 Mustang GT -2 cars
2004 STI -ran him down in 4th
2004 350Z -1 car from a 45 roll to 120.

Note: I'm only redlining at 8250. The motor feels like it is being short shifted, and falls a little out of the powerband. If set to 9,000, and tuned, I bielieve this to be a 12 second car all-motor. The engine has been built to handle the bottle, but that is not until next year, so I'm all Motor till then.

Again, thank you all for the advice and sharing your experiences with me so I could make a better build the first time around. Rocket made some insane Cams that are perfect for my setup, easily the highlight of the build. from 6500-6700, you can feel the car start to accelerate FASTER, right to redline. I am supposed to hit the dyno by the end of the week, and I will post.

I just wanted to give credit where it was due. You smart, informed, experienced guys don't get that enough.

if that car is untuned, i would not recommend beating on it till you hit a dyno and get your air/fuel ratio on point...

While I agree, i also know that I am running Pig Rich right now, so I am not SOOO concerned about that. I can't tune on a dyno up here. There is only 1 dyno in the state, and because of douchebags in the past, he only allows people to baseline with dyno days and stuff, thats it.
My Neptune RTP is not datalogging for some odd reason. We can't figure out why it won't do it, and we've checked everything. Resistor J4 has been rmoved, the 4 pin is in right, and the RTP is set to recognize my JDM P30, so we're stumped.

Once figured out, we will street tune. I have to park the car at the end of the week though for the next 6 months of Alaska winter, so I'm trying to get my fun in before the snow flies any day now.

Turbos, AWD, boxer motors. Its all unneccessary rotating mass. All I need is FWD LSD, and 2.2L DOHCVTEC, with the alternator on the BACKside of the block!

Glad you like the cams. I was wondering the other day when you were going to get it all running.

WDR and Alaska doing it big.

All i'm gonna say is "little mountain motor". Didn't know you could hog out a B to almost 2.2 liters. Nice.

With a Dart block, you can bore out to 86.5mm and with a 95mm stroker crank, you can have a 2.3L B motor, but that is the most extreme of extemes. Don't know anyone that runs that setup on the street.

And Aquafina, the Cams kick total ***. Never thought I would be so impressed. RM FTMFW!!!!

Finally got the pics. We'll start with the new motor. The car is in a little bit of rough shape, and will be worked slowly through a notorious Alaskan 6 month winter. Tell me what you think!

This is where I scratched off the 'B18A1' designation. Everyone up here still thinks this is just a peppy B16.

The car is named TicTac because it was my Mom's before it was mine. I thought it was a cool name, and it gives the car a girly/Sleeper feel. V8s hate getting stomped by a giant VTEC powered breath mint. Tell me what you think .

Get a vid. I think the combo of sight and sound will be cool.

Tires will be squeeling like a pig (Deliverance? )

suggestion only:change that crank pulley, you got to much effort in that build for an undampened pully.

Wow man, I'm really happy this thing has come full circle for you. Shifting the 24's at 8,250 is really just teasing them, get that thing on some rolllers SOMEWHERE and I think you'll be amazed at the difference. Congrats bud!

How did you figure out the redline for your engine? I mean, i know it's built like a big brick shithouse, but is there some massively complicated equation for it?

rev it out until it stops making power on a dyno then redline where it drops..

200 RPM peak power for shifting, rev limit where it starts to drop a lot of power, this way you don't have to shift mid-turn.

I see. So 9 grand really isn't pushing the limit of his reciprocating assy, since most Honda's can handle at least 7-8000 stock, and with the way it was built, it's assumed that it can handle at least that.

9k seems high to me as well. I honestly have no idea why you have the amount of money you do in this car and are running it around untuned. Do you even have a wideband on it? Looks like it could also benefit greatly from a better intake header exhaust combination.

I need a new CAI, but the exhaust is sufficient for my goals. I really do need a tune, but that will have to wait. This is what it looks like outside my house right now.

See you in April
