Borg-Warner & F-R topmount=Hood no close?
Just wanted to see if anyone else is having this issue as i cannot be the only one in the world with this set up. I tossed the turbo on the car today to start mocking up some things, and i got to looking and my wife asked if the hood would close, i replied "of course"
Well it didnt so i had to let my wife gett the best of me
Here are the pics:

Now, can i make the hook close.........yeah, but i can feel it completetly pinned up against the turbo and i know it will rub like hell on the hood and compressor housing.
i am wondering, if maybe my manifold is slightly off angle or something, as i had to trim a tiny bit just to make sure my 35R would clear, yet my buddies 42R sitts perfect???????
anyone wanna lend a hand here?
thanks

thats what im thinkning, F-R says it wil fit all T3 turbos but im wondering if they were including the B/W model???
looks like i might have to come up with some serious hood modifications.......
i fit were an OEM METAL hood, it would have never closed

yeah X, it looks like imma' have to go dukes of hazard style on the back and maybe extend the hood latch on the hood itself, OR switch manifolds.........
this one doesnt even have 3 minutes worth of idleing on it! DAMN
Full Race's top mount is slightly higher than the AFI and SLS top mount manifolds. Both AFI that was used with Tepid1's car and SLS do test fit a BW S366 and larger on them because the BW are a bit more on-center than the Garretts, and use a larger compressor cover to compensate for the larger extended tip inducer of the turbocharger. Your solution may have to cut and reweld, as ugly as a scenario that may seem.
my boys got a similar setup in a coupe and he shimmed the hood on the hinges the cut the CF hood out a little underneath to make it close. maybe ask him som10 bout it. slotec is his username.

wow that kinda blows, havent even had the car outta the garage in months
havent even had the car running on the F-R topmount for more than a few minutes
I am not above buying a new manifold to make the turbo work, but i really dont wanna hack up a perfectly good manifold in case someone may be able to use it.
Sooooooo what companies out there can step up to the plate on a B/W Bullseye turbo in an EG???

whatever you do, bring it towards the valvecover and a bit lower

You bought an old topmount manifold that i noted was for use w/ only small cover T4's thats why i sold it for $500

The BW turbo's do mount up a lot diff then a Garrett or PTE, the turbine housing offsets about 1/2" further and the turbines sit taller. We've done a ton of test fitting and typically mounting a BW turbo requires manifold changes. We went threw tons of this trying to develop a manifold to fit the EVO w/ the BW turbo's. On the EVO you simply cannot mount a Garrett/PTE and a BW on the manifold.

cut a hole for it... the air passing over it will aid in cooling the compressor housing, it could be the start of a new bandwagon... compressor housing through hood mod...
seriously though, that sucks... if you dont wanna change manifold or modify the FR one you could make a bump in the hood to clear it but obviously that will require some bodywork to do right.
I would check with FR first though, they probably will be willing to fix it for you.
