Aftermarket final drive for Type SH
What about M2Y4 and M2U4 diff's are different? For the SH, only the complete diff assembly is listed in the parts catalogs, whereas only individual parts are available for the Base. So part numbers can't be compared. The countershafts do have different p/n's though.
It's also interesting that the helms doesn't at all discuss how to service the SH differential, and goes as far as to say not to disassemble the ring gear from the diff assembly.

Do you have any idea how the other H-series trans' and the SH trans' diffs differ?

No I do not. I've never had the opportunity to tear apart an SH trans. I do know the diff is indeed different as the driver's side has a coaxial output for the ATTS system.

It would be cheaper to swap blocks + trans.
trading vehicles = easier than swapping blocks + trans

The goal here is to keep atts and change the FD, I'd be in for actually finding out just what the differences are.
I'm willing to be that the size of the ring gear is near the same, hell, I don't even see why they wouldn't be identical from a manufacturing perspective.
Mayyybe the bolt pattern is different. That could be remedied though, no?

Looking through the parts catalogs, the only differences between the Non-SH and SH transmissions seems to be countershaft, trans case and i guess the diff. All the other parts are the same. Why would the countershaft and ring gears on the diff be different? Does the countershaft come in contact with anything other than diff?
