Hey guys!

So I've had a Restoration Thread on G2IC for my DA, and figured i'd start posting it on HT as well so it could get some more exposure.

http://g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155809

Thats the like for the 24 page thread on G2IC. That has a lot of my first updates and progress, so if you're really interested go ahead and check that out for the big details. (some of the information in my earlier posts is wrong. Like brands of parts and stuff like that. Keep in mind that I was NEVER into cars until I got this one)

So I bought my DA about almost a year ago today. A really good friend of mine owned it and ended up buying a Civic, he sold it to me for a rediculous price. Ever since then i've been trying to make it better. I've made a lot of stupid choices throughout this build up, but i've also learned a LOT of things about my car, hondas, and just cars in general.

Keep in mind THIS IS MY FIRST CAR. My parents made me buy my own car without their help, so I kinda jumped on this when my friend wanted to get rid of it.

Heres what it came with.

1992 Red Acura Integra GS

Engine:

- 190k Miles
- AEM CAI
- AEM Lightened Pulleys
- Greddy Exhaust
- OBX Header

Suspension:

- Tokico Illumina Adjustible Struts
- Eibach Prokit Springs
- Brembo Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors

Other Performance Upgrades

- Generic Strut Bars
- Generic Short Shifter

Interior:

- New Pioneer Headunit
- Eclipse AMP
- 4 Tweeters
- Pilot Pedals
- Optional OEM Shift ****
- Pioneer Speakers
- Viper Security System
- Adjustable Indiglo Gauges
- Tinted Windows

All for about 800 bucks.

New Additions since i've owned the car:

- New Fuel Pump
- NGK Plugs
- Megan C- Pillar Bar
- JDM Stanley Sidemarkers
- VIS Carbon Fiber Hood
- Type R Style Lip
- New ECU
- New Dizzy
- Air Spencer Air Freshener

Heres a post from my G2IC thread:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">So heres what it looked like when I first bought it.

As you can tell, the hood, roof, spoiler, and rear bumper were gross. Very faded and oxidized. Even the rear quarter panels starting to fade pretty hard.

Trunk:

Roof

So yeah, safe to say it looked like crap. Now i'm in college, and I don't have 2 grand to drop on a paint job, so I figured my only option was a cheap *** Maaco job.

Luckly, I didn't resort to that, and hit the internet. Now I know the $50 paint job has surfaced on here before, and I definately had to give it a try. If you don't know what i'm talking about, and are still interested, head here.

http://board.moparts.org/ubbth...&vc=1

https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1

So I figured, why the hell not. I'll give it a shot. Long story short, I went ahead and painted the roof, trunk, and hood gloss black.

While it looked A LOT better than when I first got the car, I still wasn't settled.

So that brings me to this week, upon looking around I found that the $50 Roller Job can have the same results if used with a spray can, so I said "expletive it, i'm doing it".

So now i've sanded my car down, taken off the fenders, and front bumper and am starting to do this thing.

I'm a huge fan of white cars, always have been, definately the cleanest looking color, esp. when washed. So thats what I picked for my car. The hood, trunk, and roof are staying gloss black, I think they look too good to redo.

Heres pics of the second coat of paint after my first wetsand. I'm a little concerned that it won't get as glossy as I hoped, but it's only been wetsanded once, so theres still time for the gloss to show up.

Getting Ready:rockon: :

Fender after 200 Grit Wetsand, Second Coat:

So there we go, thats where i'm at. I figured i'd start a restoration thread so you guys could ask questions, give advice, etc. I'll continue to post updates and results as the process goes on, probably a few updates a day

If you want to flame, go ahead, but you'll be a bitch. Remember that...</TD></TR></TABLE>

So, I began making progress. I started rattle canning the whole car

So I pretty much finished spray bombing the whole car.

Long story short, I wasnt satisfied with the rattle cans, and began to roll the paint to get a better gloss and such.

I tried a lot of different things, for some reason I was stuck in a two tone mentality, maybe that was my ricer stage, I don't, regardless I ended up doing it.

Ended up not liking it, and slowly started bringing it back to a solid color

Finally I ended up making the car solid white.

Painted my stock GSR wheels bronze too.

Then my ECU and dizzy blew, and my car was KIA for about a month.

Just recently got it back in action (Thanks B16CRXT and Bro.Darkness!) and started working on it again.

Added a VIS CF hood and Stanley Sidemarkers. (Thanks Brice_Hayden!)

And thats pretty much where its sitting now. Like I said, this isn't all to it, if you want updates and information on ALL of my progress since i've owned the car, check out the link at the top. That documents almost EVERYTHING i've done to the car.

That car isnt nearly close to being finished. The paint is in its final stages, it needs 1 more coat on the roof, and the whole car will then need to be polished and waxed. I just wanted to give you guys some background before I start posting updates on here.

Thanks guys, and thanks to everyone thats helped/been helping me out throughout the process.

Looks good man, but as much as you have spent on the roll on paint and spray paint you could have had it painted. I hate roll on paint!!!

It just got old.

Its hard to do also, because i'm painting it myself I have to match where the black meets the white, it was really hard to do.

I did the rustolem roller job after rattle canning.

No one can really tell that it was rolled on unless I tell them, when its polished, rubbed, and waxed, it'll look awesome

Looks pretty good so far. Do you have totals with amount spent on parts? I'd love to see that. I'm on my own budget buildup too.

Hahaha, I try not to keep track on that. It makes me depressed . If I tally it up then i'll feel like i'm spending WAY to much money on a car that was made like 15 years ago

i posted it in a link as to not thread jack </TD></TR></TABLE>

Absolutely. White is by far the easiest to do. Also comes out the best. That Del Sol looks awesome.

Mines still not quite done, I have yet to polish it or anything so the gloss will only get better!

Its not a GSR unfortunately, its a GS, so i'm running a B18a1. I'm currently saving up for a swap, not sure what to put in it yet.

A plan i've been tossing around is trying to make this car like a DA version of an ITR. So If they made an ITR back in 93, thats what i'd like my car to be.

Go all white, 5 lug, with ITR recaros and **** on the inside, if I can get a B18c-R in there that'd be nice, but not sure. Possibly a Hiro replica wing, etc, I think it'd be cool to have an ITR looking DA

The parts I ordered didn't come in with USPS, so hopefully the guys shipped them out UPS. Fingers Crossed!
