SOHC VTEC Turbo -- Ghetto Fabulous

Hey guys.... Im posting these pictures for a friend -- OneScarySOHC.

THis is probbabally just about one of the most GHETTO setups on H-T. Its a fun little car though. He is using a Mazda 626 Turbo/IC HF mani. DSM BOV. We welded the boost pipes together.

nice...cheap..and it works..and no one will know you got turbo..unless they see the...I/C...which is in the dayam hoOD!

To get everything together he spent arouns 150 bucks for everything. You cant beat it! He also now WHUPS another CRX with a Built ZC/Turbo thats running more boost. Hahaha you cant beat it!! Cheap cheap speed.

you should make sure that the intercooler isn't functioning as a charge air HEATER! since it's right by the engine. you should get a indoor/outdoor temp. gauge and see what the intake air temp is. You should probably run some kind of ducting from under the car like a ram air onto the IC, and also block it off from the engine...just a thought, though, if it works; it works.

did he have to redrill the mani..I'm guessing so but if so I wish more people would post how-to's. Good job though

put a old 300zx hoodscoop right over it or something so it can get some air

heheh well he chanced names on me.. I guess hes OneScarySOHC now

either way, he is currently trying to refashion the hood so he can vent the IC better. Look into the 300zx thing Dustin!

He custom made a "scoop" on the hood that pulls air onto the intercooler... its very efficent.

I going to be running one without an intercooler, will I be safe? That seems like it's really hot if the pipe before the intercooler is burning hot. Gotta look for a small intercooler. But the greddy sohc kit doesn't come with an intercooler, how can they get away without one?
