So, just installed this shifter kit on my Crx. Did a search, not much about it, this may be a repeat somewhere.... Anyways, after trying a few Hondas with "short shift kits" which is not that great (Stock Honda is already good), this one is impressif. The shifter is really closer to the steering wheel. Some of you will say "you just increased the travel", well they figured that out and designed so that the travel is near stock. I am not a gadget driver/racer but this one, I would recommand it. This is for hardcore racers (not cheap). It may look weird but this product is Function over Design/looks/bling.
I will be testing it for real on lapping night this monday.

Yes, Yes and Yes, Being closer to the shifter you have better control at all times. Plus with a short shifter you are always leaning down and forward to grab the shifter.

i would image not. I figure the travel is the same, but with better **** placement.
whats everyone using for boots with these, if using one at all?

Um, no
If you'd bothered to read about it, the throws are the same distance as with the stock shifter - except the **** is much closer to the wheel, where it should be, and you have more leverage. The length between the pivot ball and the linkage eye is extended like a short-throw shifter in order to negate the extra throw length caused by the longer lever arm.

With the stock shift lever, I used a '99-00 Civic Si shift **** and boot. When I installed the FLP shifter, I simply removed the chrome trim ring from the '99-00 Si boot (it is attached with a zip tie) and kept the top edge folded down.

The fit on mine was very tight. So much so, that I don't think it's ever going to move or come back out, even if the set screw wasn't there

Just remember that it's a shifter, not a drum stick. No need to manhandle it.
Is the set screw tight? Can you twist the shifter at all?

No loose, pretty tight. I was just thinking about my old Momo shift **** that kept loosen up (held by a hex screw). But, the way the hex screw is design (tip has "teeth") there should be no issue with getting loose. Just wondering since you had it for a while.
juss a question wouldnt the circuit hero shift lever extender do the same thing for way less (correct me if im wrong) http://circuithero.com/products.html

No.
That piece will lengthen the shift throw. You also don't get the solid feel provided by the large counterweight.
It also has no bends, is not as long, and is not adjustable. Not to mention, it's aluminum and is pretty anemic-looking. The FLP shifter is made of steel and is pretty substantial.

this is why they recomend using it with a short shifter, the cirsuit hero is not meant to be used with a stok throw shifter as it will severely increase your throw and it will slap the dashboard. I machine my own circuit hero type shift extensions, out fo the same material(7075 alluminum)...which is virtually un breakable unless ur using a hydraulic ram to do all your shifting...the circuit hero is a race proven shifter just liek the fast line performance shifter, each has their benefits, some say the shift feel is nicer w the circuit hero because of the decreased weight(as i do since i have driven cars with both)...and some say they prefer the weighted FLP shifter....but the circuit hero is no garbage in any way shape or form...

I have one as well for my hatch...one of the best mods I have ever done on the car. It makes driving a great joy.
Excellent product!
The only difference I noticed was the side to side movement. It was more pronounced with this shifter, other than that, no complaints at all.
