Default Has anybody had to lemon their 8th gen so far?

So first of all, how are you guys? I haven't posted in a while because I've been so busy working 6 days a week

On top of work and trying to get set up for school, I've had to take my car into Honda for many times in the past few months. I have a lot to say of course because it's been going on so long and I'm pretty pissed off. Here is the long version, with a summary for you guys at the end:

1.Weird noise from front left
2.Took in for diagnostic
3.Waited about a month for "nationwide backordered" strut
4.Brought in for repair, only to have the noise become shorter and louder
5.Waited over a month for another strut. Nobody bothered to call me it was there or to come in to get my car fixed. I had to go in myself to find out that it had gotten there.
6.Made an appointment to have it fixed since they forgot about me. Loud Knocking is still there.
7.Had to wait like 2 weeks before I was availible to go through this crap again. Made an appointment for them to diagnose the problem. She said it'd be a good time it was going to be a slow day
8.Went in for the appointment 2 days later and they asked what I was there for. Then she said she forgot about my appointment but she'll check me in. Received a call 30 minutes before closing to be notified that they didn't have the time to look at my car that day.
9.Skipped the stupid advisor and spoke to the Service director. He said he'd have it handled and have a shuttle take me back to work immediately when I drop it off so I could come in ASAP the next day.
10.Called him for 2 hours before the appointment and couldn't get a hold of him. When I got over there, they had forgotten about me again and had the shuttle take someone else home already. They had me drive one of their employees back to my work in my own car so they could take it.
11.They decided they should replace the STRUT AGAIN, to see if it would fix it. Said I'd have to wait for it to come in again and hopefully it wouldn't take a month. I'm pretty annoyed Luckily it seems they overnighted it or they just happened to have one coming in already, so I only waited 2 days.
12.Took my car in to get fixed today, hoping this would finally do it and that I wouldn't have to turn to corporate for help. They forgot about me again and didn't have a shuttle for me, I had to wait until they had an employee availible so I could take them to my work in my own car again. The service advisor answers a phone call in the middle of my meeting with her. I pick up my car a few minutes ago and asked if they fixed it and what was wrong. She says "I dunno, see if it makes the sound again. We just replaced the strut again. Hopefully that fixed it." At this point I'm pissed. I didn't even have to road test it to know that it wasn't fixed.

Summary:
There's weird noises coming from front left of my car. I took it to get fixed. Replaced the strut and the noise was just less frequent and much louder.
Got it fixed again; replaced the strut again. Didn't work.
Got it fixed AGAIN. Replaced the strut, AGAIN. That's strike 3.
Throw in bad customer service all up in there, throughout my time waiting for repairs.

It wasn't the F-ing strut the first time, It wasn't the F-ing strut the second time, IT OBVIOUSLY ISN'T GOING TO BE THE STRUT AGAIN. It really doesn't take a genius to figure that out. I even mentioned the service bulletin for the problem that seems to describe mine, and they completely ignored me about it. She goes "I've never heard of it..sooo..uhhhh..we'll just order another strut."

At this point, I don't want to deal with them at all anymore. I just want corporate to make it right, and I don't ever want service from this dealership again. I feel like they don't give a crap about me at all, and they probably just think I'm a punk kid. I can honestly say I was never rude or loud about it, and she even thanks me for being patient. It's just plain out bad customer service.

I'm going to try to talk to corporate tomorrow and see what they can do for me. I really didn't need it to be lemoned; I just wanted it fixed, but if corporate can't get it fixed either, then I feel that this dealership owes me a new car. Any suggestions on how to better prepare myself for tomorrows conversation with them?

I would never go aftermarket to fix something that should work from the factory. I'd do it for other reasons, but no way would I spend money to fix something that should be free.

Hey there,

I want to add in some of my own issues regarding the EXACT same problem with my brand new Si I purchased on July 9th.

I have the exact same knocking on my driver left front (my spot), I didn't think anything of it for a few days (maybe 1-2) because I thought the car was breaking in or something (I'm a youngin and I've never purchased a brand new car before)...and finally I was like wtf is this damn noise.

I schedule an appointment (luckily they remember about me)...they said my PSI on my all my tires were different and the max is like 34 or 35? Somehow mine (from what they said) were 42psi...so they let some of the air out and got all of them to like 32-33psi and said I'd be good to go.

Well magically that day I didn't hear the noise again...a few days go by and voila, it's back again...I'm going ok...wtf...so I call make an appointment go back AGAIN and now they actually said they looked at the car and said that they 'put together the part wrong'...in the factory...

So they ordered the 'part'...and said it would be in in about 2 days. Well today is day 1 of 2...so tomorrow they should get it in and it looks like Saturday I'll be back there again. If they don't fix it after doing this...I'm gonna be pissed.

I believe my first time in was June 06, 2007. If from then until now is not short enough of time, I think I can mention that they made me wait for the part and they also neglected my appointments.

You guys think I should call corporate now and explain myself and request my right to a new car under lemon law?

If so, is there a specific number I should call? If not, I'll just call whatever I can find on Honda.com.

While I agree having OEM stuff replaced while under warranty and what not is a good idea (and that it should be working to begin with) after 3 times, just the downtime alone I'd go aftermarket and just get something quality (koni's or something)

Here is Washington State we have a Lemon Law Policy that if after 2 or 3 times they don't fix the problem, you actually call the state and they get involved etc;

Not sure if it's the same for where you are.

Well, I called Honda and they said they'd have a case manager investigate it for me. Hopefully they sort it out. I don't think there's much else I can do right now except wait for them to call back.

What I would like to know is why you kept going back there... My original dealer left my oil cap off after an oil change, never went back.. it was minor yes, but they get paid to do it right.

It was warranty work and like I said, I work 6 days a week. The only day I'm off is Sunday and in Nevada, all dealerships are closed on Sunday. The other dealerships are really far from me and they wouldn't provide me a loaner at all. The only thing they would do for me is give me a discounted rental.

^^ This is more than likely the answer yed. I was having the same problem (minorly, mind you) replaced my suspension with B&G Coilovers, and had the same problem even worse. I thought it was the pillowball mount. Finally saw the TSB above, it made sense, got the "fixed" bumpstops, and will be installing them this weekend. (Aftermarket Coils use the OEM bumpstops in the front)

FYI, the bumpstops look quite different. They are built to not bind on the strut's shaft. Just tell them to TRY it. The bumpstops are $17. Hell, print out the TSB, get the parts guy to order the bumpstops, pay for them, hand them to the service guys to install. Should only take 45 minutes.

Wish you luck man!

So don't. I've already had enough unnecessary crap from them, I don't need it from you as well.

Yeah...why post that thing? (racial BS)...

Either way keep us posted on how it turns out. They ordered my part...not sure what it was (my story is also located above)...and it still didn't come in yet (has only been 2 days)...we'll see.
