coolant overflowing
hey guys, search is being retarded and not working so i apologize if this is covered somewhere, i'll search again tomorrow.
i have an 89 crx with a z6 in it. had some cooling problems last august the last time i took it on track, water temps got up to 240 and the overflow tank was overflowing a lot. after that i got a dual core brass radiator. just got back from vir this weekend for the first time since i got the new radiator and the temps seemed a lot better. it barely went over 200. i also installed an oil temp gauge just last week. didnt really have it on long enough to get what readings are normal, but it seemed alright where it was at while at the track. it peaked at 260 when i got on it hard but generally when i saw it, it was at 230ish.
so it looks like temps are normal, but the coolant is overflowing the overflow tank. after talking to some people at the track it seemed like since the temps were normal, the bigger radiator/engine just want a bigger overflow tank. does this sound right or is there some other issue here?
do you guys just use your stock overflow tank or do you have a bigger one or somethign?

You don't need a larger overflow tank. The stock one will work just fine. You may have a small headgasket leak over-pressurizing the water system. Put a leakdown tester on it and check the cyls. When you do this, pull the rad cap and see if you see any bubbles coming up through the rad while the cyls are pressurized. If so, you have a headgasket leak.
