Default Any good yamaha forums? Lowering an r6?

I know this is a honda site and honda products are my favorite but i am looking into getting a yamaha r6. I've been riding a ninja 250 for about 1 1/2 months. Im not going to be getting an r6 anytime soon, probably at least 6 months from now. Just looking for a good yamaha forum. The seat height on the ninja is perfect for me but with an r6 i will want to lower it, something like maybe 3 inches. I know it messes up the handling but i am not into take corners at like xxMPH. Just basic riding and taking regular corners. Possibility? thanx.

Google is yur friend....

To lower, buy a lowering link for the rear, install in 5 minutes. Then loosen triple clamps, let forks slide up until its low enough then tighten clamps, another 5 minutes. I wouldn't lower it 3 inches, that will probably bottom out your suspension on bumps which is

I've heard lowering should be the last option, begin looking for aftermarket seats or shaving the stock seat, boots with thicker soles, and as a last resort you can lower it up to 1.5" without affecting the bike...but I've read quite a few articles where if you do lower it you need to do the front and the rear. And if you're not carving corners I personally don't see why you couldn't lower it 3"

I'm pretty short too (5'3), ninja 250 fits me perfectly, the 500 I'm on my tippy-toes, and 600's I have to one cheek sneak...only problem with that is getting the kick stand up and down lol.

Wow 3"???, how short are you? With a 3" drop I'd even worry about regular turns.

how tall are you/short are your legs that you wanna lower the bike 3"?

also, why get an R6 if you're not into "carving corners"? it's not really a great bike for riding around town and running errands, or cruising to santa barbara on...it really just exists to be ridden on the ragged edge at 14000 rpm.

i can tippie toe on a 07 600rr right now with sneakers. The r6 is about 1.2 inches taller then the cbr as far as seat height. With boots i might get 1/2 inch. I want to at least half foot both feet. Not for while im riding but for moving around in parking lots with my feet. Its hard to try and move with tippie toes.

All you need is to get one foot down. Pick a side and slide your butt over to that side of the seat and get one foot planted. I've seen plenty of people less than 5'5" riding stock height R6's

Its hard if you tilt the bike at a 45 degree angle but at a stop light you're straight up. You're only using your leg as a balancer, not a kickstand. If you can't use one leg to hold you up at a complete stop, you're no where close to being ready to riding a R6.

You never answered the question how tall you are to have to lower the bike 3".

Anyhow, you do know that just sitting on random bikes tells you nothing about the actually ride height that YOU should have it at. Once you fully adjust the suspension you can see where the ride height will be for you. All you need is 1 foot down, and you can always do the butt slide. Things you might want to consider before dangerously changing your bikes geometry.
