Default slowman's project EK 'build' thread

Brief history: Bought the car June 28, 2007 off my friend. He has had the car for around 4 years or so, he bought it bone stock. While it was in his possession, the following mods were installed:

B16A3 swap/2000 Si tranny
Skunk2 Springs
KYB AGX struts
STR Rear Diffuser
ACT HDSS Clutch
Fidanza Lightweight Flywheel
Cheap intake

Only major issue when I bought it is that sometimes it’s hard to shift when you rev it out higher, read on to find out about this issue.

Bled the clutch line, helped but didn’t solve it. Bought a new slave cylinder, helped even more, but still doesn’t feel 100% right. Further inspection shows SOME wetness around the master cylinder, so going to buy a new master cylinder and braided clutch line tomorrow.

Here are few pics of it when I bought it.

Car is pretty nice for it’s age. I really enjoy it, now here’s a timeline of the small ‘build’ process. Hope you enjoy!

June 28, 2007: Purchased
June 29, 2007: Clutch line bled
July 3, 2007: Replaced distributor cap/rotor
July 4, 2007: Replaced battery
July 5, 2007: Car professionally detailed

My old boosted hatch’s reflection, sold last weekend. You will be missed 13.9@105mph SOHC non VTEC, junkyard turbo. Bought the car bone stock, car I had when I joined H-T!

July 7, 2007: Clutch slave cylinder replaced
July 8, 2007: BPi velocity stack/K&N filter installed

July 9, 2007: Tried on my spare shoes, Rota GT3s, looks good, kept em on!
July 11, 2007: Busy day! Replaced front brake pads, changed trans fluid, got the clips for my sideskirt in from Honda, installed JDM ITR valvecover, Vision carbon fiber spark plug cover, JDM ITR oil cap, 8000k HIDs from HondaEMS.com, also my ASR Subframe brace and Blox LCAs came in. Can’t install the Subframe brace or LCAs on account of the jank exhaust setup is in the way and mounted all funny. Don’t worry I’ll fix this problem! Just realized no pics of all this stuff, so I’ll get some up soon!

These are FOR SALE by the way, contact me about it, never used, brand new!

New pic up:

July 13, 2007: EM1 cluster with CTR carbon fiber bezel installed. Swapped out speedos to retain actual mileage as well. Pic is up:

July 14-15, 2007: Attended Import Alliance 2007 in Nashville, TN. What a blast!

July 24, 2007: Replaced the clutch master cylinder and decided to go ahead with a stainless braided clutch line! The new master cylinder allows me to actually shift quick now, the old one was trashed! And the Tri-Y header arrived as well!

July 26, 2007: Phearable.net Chipped ECU/OBD2b-OBD1 jumper installed! Runs great! Cleared all my OBD2 related codes. VTEC: 5400 RPM, 2 Step: 4800 RPM, Rev limit: 8700 RPM

July 27, 2007: Megan Racing Cat back arrived.. prolly will install this along with the header Sunday so I have one night of open header action lol. Will post vids if I do it! These are great pics I know, lol NOT! Will get better ones when installing.

July 29, 2007: Installed the Hytech rep tri-y design header. Looks awesome and has that 'blinging bronze' color to it now after heated up a bit. I also fitted up the Megan Racing exhaust and am taking it to the exhaust shop because some things need cut, shortened, and re welded. Here's just a few pics of todays progress.

Old **** gone

New header verrrrry nice, look at that stock junk!

Another comparison

Old cat back

I LIKE!

AND THE VIDS

July 30, 2007: Header mated to the rest of the catback exhaust. Sounds amazing and pulls better than ever! Track times coming Wednesday hopefully!

August 7, 2007: Installed the Mishimoto radiator and Mishimoto slim 12 inch slim fan along with the Samco hose kit! Awesome setup...pics tomorrow.

That’s about all I have for now. Things that have been ordered and not yet arrived include:

Mishimoto Radiator and Slim Fan ARRIVED 7-30-07
Samco Hose Kit ARRIVED 8-6-07
Tri-Y header (from user: yellowbananitr) ARRIVED 7-24-07!
Megan Racing drift spec exhaust ARRIVED 7-27-07!
Phearable Chipped P28 ECU/OBD2b-OBD1 jumper ARRIVED 7-26-07!

Plans include getting all that **** and installing it and then getting it fully tuned. There is some speculation that this engine has cams/valvetrain… it pulls pretty good for a b16 and the VTEC crossover is pretty insane. My main goal is to hit a solid 13 sec quarter mile pass, all motor, stock block, and consistently while looking good. Would also like to represent the EK Squad as well! I will continue to update this and make it more picture intensive. STAY TUNED!

how did the velocity stack fit on that no name intake. i have one as well but i measured it at 2.5ish" diameter, and i know the bpi stack is 3in... so by my calculations... that would work out.

Yeah they're not my first choice, but they are better than steelies.

And the No name intake is 3 inch, the stack is 3 inch, conjunction with a 3 inch coupler, everyones happy!

And by the way, new clutch master cylinder and SS braided line and shifts PERFECT! Pics coming soon.

AND HEADER arrived, w00t!

none of the above JDM blah blah is going to do anything for performance however it will make ricers want your car more!!!

also i see you have those blox LCA's they are junk i had the blox/omni ones i would replace them with the function 7 ones far superior then those!

as for the wheels the only rota's i would go with would be the slipstreams because there light and they are cheap in $$$ however if you have more money to spend i would go with my personal fav which would be the Enkei RPF1's

oh and the fart can you have on the back of your car come on man!

i would go with something that looks more stock looking such as a magnaflow/es tuning muffler something on those lines!

as for the BPI i have that system on my car also really nice piece of engineering!

what are you going to do with your suspension setup?

other then that nice car!

I really like how the suspension handles/drives for daily drivability. I plan on maybe getting full Omni's later on down the line, but for now these will do. Also interested in the EM Racing triangulated ***** in the back or the Miracle X Bar but damn it's expensive!

I personally like fart cans that sound ok lol!!!!

Personally i would want to know how much those X bars weigh seen as power to weight will be a help in your 1320 goal

wouldn’t a rear strut bar suffice?

I like these lips the Mugen (top) and sir (bottom).

Yeah I'm thinking one of these two lips, the CTR rear lip, grille, black housing lights, duck bill, mirrors, and I may be set on exterior.

hrm..
