Default Review: the BEST eBay Header - cheap and well made.

Guys I spent at least a month on this board trying to get an OEM exhaust manifold to replace my RMF (to sell it) [/shameless plug]

Anyways, after not being able to find a stock manifold for a good price on here, for some reason people though 11+ year old exhaust manifolds should be expensive (as much as $100) I finally gave up on that and decided to buy an ebay header.

The seller, motorsportpartz, sells brand new stainless h22 headers for about $75 shipped. Here is a link to one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

I wish I would have taken pics for you guys, but I forgot my camera, (aznblueboy if you read this that's why I know I know).

All the welds look to be machine welds because they're spot on and look great every time.
The inside of all the flanges has been dremeled out to smooth any rough spots from the weld and ensure the pipe isn't sticking out into the port.
All the pipes are merge collectors and from what I was able to see they were flawless.
The flexpipe is great, and it comes with hardware and all the gaskets. The studs it comes with (they go on the 4-2 flange just like the stock one) are cool as hell, they have a little nipple on the end with two flat sides, you can grab it with a pair of pliers and tighten it down that way.
It looks pretty cool now too lol it turned gold after the first heating....feels great too, my car was running a bit odd on the RMF header and stock ecu (no wonder lol) but after changing out to this it feels good and powerful.

I'll try and take some pics of the thing eventually if you guys want. I just wanted to share, that is the one to get if you're buying an ebay header. The thing looks just like my old greddy header, which is now on my brother's car. Measurements are coming to compare the pipe sizes, primaries and secondaries. This header comes with a 2" collector and mates perfectly to the stock cat. My h23 cat fit with just drilling out the far side hole with a 1/2" drill bit.

honda-tech people trying to get $1 million for their old *** stock headers

-Matt

edit: measured the primaries. they're the same as the greddy at about 1.83"

Yea you can't beat the price, especially if you plan to hack it up. I would cry if I were to cut into a header I just payed 1200 for.

Ya weird thread.

Anyway like you said your biggest concern should be the welds, and also you didn't mention fitment. I would say you two best bets in answering this question would be to A - check the reviews on ebay from buyers. And B - check their history to make sure if there is a problem with a customer's order that they don't run and disappear which you hear so much about recently especially with motor swaps. Anyways just check for their disputes and make sure it has a warranty. You can even try looking them up on the better business bureau although this is probably an obscure small company it's worth a shot. Again it just depends on how paranoid you, but when I can get a header I could probably trade a couple "big white booty" dvd's for i'd be skeptical of it's longevity.

did you want the 2" collector?

i really want to see someone test the stainless header from kteller. they say it has a 2.5" collector and is only $200.

I called and they said it was a 2.33", but I'm not 100% sure they gave a **** at the time.

You could buy 8 of those ebay headers for a typical costly name brand header. If one brakes who cares.

Some Ebay headers are pretty cost efficient even if they are inexpensive.

I have the (h23) dc sports header (knockoff or whatever it is) for $79 shipped, and came pretty much the same quality as mgags described.

Are the gains to the 1000$ headers compared to ebay 75$ headers of similar concept and design (not same manufacturer) that drastic? I know every horse counts but why not save a couple hundred on a header so you can maybe use the savings on other mods?

The true point in reality (or at least mine and many other people on realistic financial budgets) is hp/doller figure. If you can get 10hp for 300$ or 8hp for 75$ than logically the 8hp for 75$ would be ideal for the average mild bolt on auto enthusiasts.

I know what you mean though, but my car can suffer a touch if I save a couple bucks in my pocket to eat, get drunk occasionally, and enjoy a lap dance at Roxanne's now and again (not at the expense of the reliability of the motor/car itself of course, but we are just talking external bolt ons).

Some of those specific few ebay headers last more than a couple years so you do get your money worth if you're doing the installation.

i've just don't see the point of lowering the quality of your parts (meaning going from OEM to junk ebay) just to gain a few hp.

go big or stay home.

OHhhhhhhhh!

I understand what your saying now.

I completely agree with you there. I just wish they designed the h23 header a bit more efficient while maintaining the quality and strength of oem. The weight alone of the stock h23 header says it all! Things probably double that of a flimsy aftermarket!

The ebay headers are just modeled after the dc sports header, and they dont make great power over oem.....but they are definately better looking and for 75 Shipped.....thats a steal, espcially because the people who still have an oem want an arm and a leg for them.Great buy if the quality is there. H23's have a much more restrictive exhaust manifold,so any aftermakrket header helps the flow alot more than it would on a h22.

Yeah I bought one with a resonated test pipe for 110 shipped, works great for me, but looks a bit funny since I drove it over a Colorado winter with a 1/2 civic rad, so road crap sandblasted part of the finish lol. I bought one that came in a no-name box for my H23, then my H22 swap I got one in a "edge racing sports" box? anyone get the same thing?

I see it this way thats 75 more dollars you could have saved for an RMF or something on that nature.

I've had the eBay header for close to two years. Back then they had a 1.75" collector though. Anyway, although it's a little rusty, it's still holding up fine

I would watch out for the mounting bracket on the header downpipe. Because the bracket is thicker and less flexible than the stock bracket, it can potentially tear two holes right off the pipe where the welding is.
