Default FA5 exhaust installed

So on my day off from work I decided it's time to get crackin at this whole modding the Honda.

Taking the stock exhaust off was easy...once I took off the rear passenger tire to get at some bolts easier, and got some channel locks to muscle the rubber hangers on/off.

Then the FedEx guy shows up.

Anyway the LSD system bolted right up. The Vband clamps work real nice. Slight leaks but once it heats up/cools down after a few drives and I tighten it up they should subside (my Flowmaster setup on the Chevy was worse at first). Sounds good, real deep, not wicked loud, but definitely louder than stock.

My apologies for the vid/sound quality, I don't have a digi video camera, so the regular digi camera had to do. If I feel up to it I'll get one on the road cuz even I haven't heard Vtec yet. (literally just got done) I also apologize for the dirty car, I'll wash it later.

Oh, btw, for any FA5 guys interested, buy it, it's good.

/end rant.

Yea, the exhaust definitely sits nice on the Fiji Blue. Looks great on your car man and obviously you know how much we like the sound.

I'm diggin my fingerprints all over the bumper lol.

Anyway, after 2 hours of driving I came to a few conclusions.

It sounds nice, VTEC is as advertised.
No droning on the highway, in fact when you maintain speed it's almost silent.
Looks nice, VBand setup is slick.

The ugly:
I'm gonna have to jack the car up again and tighten everything (typical for a new exhaust though)

Otherwise this thing is perfect. It's deep, it's mean.

because mine is a n1 custom i guess. mine sits back in the bumper a little more, which i really like. yours sticks out a little too much for my liking.

but i do infact love the way yours sounds.
sounds really simalar to mine, yours might be cleaner..... i like my looks more though.

Any chance of you taking some vids while you're driving? Like someone outside recording as you start moving. The exhaust I buy is really dependant upon how it depends upon first start-up. Sometimes I have to be at work at 3-4 am and I can't be waking wife or neighbors up.

Maybe even a rolling one where you punch it as well It does look good, smart move for LSD to hustle out an exhaust for the FA5, and growing impatient and if they're the only one's out with a nice one before the end of august, they get my business.

Once it seals up, it's real quiet at idle. I'd say not loud enough to wake anyone up, as I go to work before the sun rises too. But I have a neighbor who thinks his giant bike with open pipes is cool for a 3am wake up.

I'll get some more vids up either tomorrow afternoon if I'm not working late, if not definitely by Tuesday afternoon.

There's a HT discount/groupbuy. Check the performance sale section.

I like the looks, actually wish it was just a little louder (screw the neighbors, actually there mostly old and hard of hearing). I am still on the fence on whether to go with the LSD or wait on the Skunk2 or Greddy. Any more video yet?

I never had to do that on any of the various exhaust installs I've done on a civic. Anyway, is the muffler sitting crooked? It appears that way in all the pics I see of the exhaust.

Much appreciative of the mini-review there and the upcoming vids

It's (the tip) is offset. I didn't have to re-tighten it, I'm a lil **** about my car and did it for peace of mind.

Well I left for work around 5 this morning. The high idle (erm ~2k) did seem kinda louder than I would have liked. Not anywhere as loud as the neighbors diesel truck, or the other's motorcycle...or as annoying as the birds in the bushes, the 6am train, or the jets on the runway approach.

I parked in my driveway (usually park in the road) so maybe it echos between the 2 houses and seems louder because it didn't sound that loud in the road. It did annoy my mom but she's driving the hotrod Malibu so she didn't complain (maybe I won't park outside her window...or she'll learn to close it and use the AC once in a while lol).

Once I pulled out just stayed at a steady speed and it wasn't loud at all (nearly stock sounding), such is the case all the time going 10mph or 70mph, as long as it's a steady speed.

So, winter time, I see no issues at all, house windows closed etc.

Summertime with the windows open...if I'm in the street no big deal, next to said window not so good.

But you live in a neighborhood with any sort of regular noise like me (near a major road, airport, rail line, water body with boats, motorcycles, diesel trucks) you won't have any problems. If the neighbors are awake, they're going to hear you, maybe get annoyed, but before sunrise who isn't irritable? It's 1 minute they won't remember by the time they finish their morning coffee. Definitely not loud enough to complain about.

In my case I don't really care about annoying the neighbors. I do drive considerately and don't make excessive noise, but if they can mow their lawn at 8pm, drive their open pipe motorcycles, or giant diesel trucks, shitty S10's, or an SRT4, the last thing I'm worried about is my smallblock Chevy or Honda Civic making too much noise for 60 seconds a day.

Sidenote : left my camera in my buddy's car so it'll be a day for the pics/vids
AND I wrote this with extreme consideration for the neighbors. It's weird how people feel inclined to worry about noise and people living on a street branching off a main road, but not for the people living on the main road.

Somebody in CT needs to meet up with me to explain what the hell I'm talking a out lol.

Upon discussion with the parents, cuz they know stuff I don't think of.

Catbacks are bad for small kids. Damages hearing etc, it might not bother them, but isn't necessarily healthy...another reason my dad had to sell his Camaro when I was oh, 2ish.

So while I say F' the neighbors, being a parent has some limits attached to it, imo.
