July 21 BBQ Meet/Event at Autobahn Country Club
Yup that's right, BBQ meet at a TRACK.
YOU DON'T NEED TO DRIVE ON TRACK TO ATTEND!! It is a family day too so if you have a wife and/or a little one, bring them with. There would be activities for the kids too. So far couple local shops have already committed so the turnout should be good.
It would be exactly the same as any other BBQ meet in parks or parking lots, only difference is that in addition to the regular hang outs and car chats, there will also be cars or race cars running on track for you to spectate. This meet is actually taking spaces from the NASA Midwest event and they welcome all of us to come.
PIC Performance (www.picperformance.com) will be hosting the BBQ. They will bring grill, drink, food, and we bring people and cars. Since there would be racing and driving on track, no alcoholic beverages would be allowed until the track goes cold.
And of course, if you want to drive on track, you are more than welcome to sign up the NASA event also. If you just want to hang out, or don't even have a car, it's absolutely fine too.
Location:
Autobahn Country Club
3795 South Patterson Road
Joliet, IL 60436
(Very close to Rt66 Raceway)
Date:
Saturday July 21, 2007
Time:
Technically the event starts at 8am, but BBQ is around 11:30am. So you can show up early and catch the practice and qualifying sessions; or come later, enjoy lunch and catch the actual race actions at around 3:00pm. At around 5-6pm the track goes cold and there would be free banquet and beer at the track. If you're willing to stick around for that long, you would be rewarded with an awesome evening party.
Hope to see you there.

Not sure which meet you're referring to?
But I think we all have had experience with regular car meets at a park or parking lot. Having one at a track closed by, with BBQ, and can watch the race action is definitely something different.

It says drinks and snacks at 7:30pm. Looks like there would be no banquet at night like last year.... maybe it costs too much. :??:

I believe Autobahn charges $5 at the gate. But this charge has nothing to do with NASA or PIC. Just that the workers at Autobahn try to make a few bucks I guess.

i went, and it was deffinately worth the $5 to get in. And if you went today and keep ur band, u could get in for free 2mm. I have a **** load of pics, that ill post later. There was a huge diversity in cars, which made it enjoyable.
went today was the coolest thing i've even been to lets just say I've been looking for shells after today cause i'm ready to build a car for the track i'm going tommorow to, oh yah that black crx was quite impressive and was suprised at the engine setup, spoon itr was nice to

The weather was great. It was about 75 degrees and we had cloud free sky
