Default How can I get exactly 200 hp from a 96 gsr?

How can I get 200 hp from my 96 gsr? What do I need? I know that stock gsr are 170 hp. I just need 30 more hp. I need 200 hp to even up hp with the rsx so I can have a fair race. Right now i have aem intake, dc 4-2-1 one peice header, Skunk 2 camgear, ACT 6 puck clutch and flywheel. What else do I need? I have a skunk 2 maniflod that i haven't install yet. I want to go all motor.

Well, install the manifold.. I finished mine up yesterday and the difference is very noticeable.
Suprising actually.

The simplest thing to do is go buy you a lil nitrous kit.

Bye bye RSX's.

lol wow... the 05-06 rsx-s throws down about 180-185 hp at the wheels.. not to mention it has a six speed, shorter geared transmission and higher final drive ratio... that means you're going to need MORE then 180-185 hp to beat it because of your drive train losses... you have some Serious reading/searching to do.

The hp you're referring too is only Flywheel hp,
Huge difference from what you make at the wheels.

If all you wanna do is beat some rsx, get a dry 50shot of NOS/zex, or w/e you want,
Just make sure you're running High octane(91-93), and possibly retard the timing.

Other wise get a turbo kit if you wanna have more permanent power.

170hp is actually flywheel hp. Wheel horse power is less...... Here's what I'm doing with my all motor rebuild that'll probably only get me up to 215 whp.

port and polished gsr head
supertech valve trane (valves, springs, retainers)
blox type b cams
skunk2 IM
rc310 injectors
itr tb
blue printed and balanced gsr block
jdm ctr oversized pistons
...and a few other misc parts...

The quickest and cheaper way to achieve the 200+ whp mark with a gsr is either nitrous or turbo kit.

Yup, that's what it takes!

How much are you paying for your P&P and Blueprint/balancing? Are you honing and hot tanking the block as well? I'm looking to do a similar setup with diff. parts soon and I would like to know just about how much It's gonna be running me. PM Me, gotta keep it a secret.

I'm going to be running a similar setup also, and this is the right track to 200+ whp.

you dont need that much to run with a stock rsx-s...bolt-ons with a b16 tranny in a gsr will run similar 1/4 mile times to a stock rsx-s

jdm an usdm gsr motor are not the same your jdm motor already has high comp pistons, an when i got it dyno i was using stock headers, the shop told me if i where to upgrade the headers i be looking over 190 to the wheels an that was close headers no open headers...

i have 90 DA, before i went turbo.....i had 97 jdm GSR, with skunk2 manifold/crower valve train, stage 2 cams/skunk2 cam gears/dc header/short ram intake/clutch/flywheel/thermal exhaust/no cat/P28 hondata s200 dyno tuned and made 190whp/137wtq, thats overkill to an rsx, there was rsx doors laying all over the highway

i make a lot more power now, swapping out the cams and boosting the engine but thats a story for another day

easiest and cheapest way is to boost it....my first setup cost me less than $3k and i made 254 whp and 178ft/lbs at the wheels.....you'd have to shell out 10x that much to make that kind of power NA

YES SLS manifolds!! thats what im running now, the ram SLS manifold.
i need to get back on the dyno to see if it helped or hurt me, it runs just as good, so i hope i didnt screw my A/F ratio up too bad.

my ebay manifold cracked a runner instantly when i went above 6psi, we just finished the tune like that.

my NA set up cost a pretty penny as well, but no where as much as my turbo set up did.
keep in mind i had my NA set up for 5 years. the prices were more expensive 5 years ago i have a fading memory on exact prices i paid that long ago.

JDM GSR long block(no tranny/mounts/linkage)-$2500 shipped
Intake-one gram of dro(sweeeet price)
exhaust-$500
crower valve train/cams-$750
DC sports header-$300(?)
clutch/flywheel-$700
Skunk2 cam gears-$250
Skunk2 intake manifold-$350
P28 w/jumper harness and hondata S200-$800
ARP headstuds/head gasket/water pump/t-belt-$200
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------this is just round a bout cost of parts for 190whp/137wtq
does not include, dyno session/all labor performed by myself
(you will be raped if you cannot DIY)/and all maintenance items and little issues that cost alot more than just these bolt-ons

i was in it about 3k and i made 225/155. That was doing all the work myself except tuning and boring the block
