D16A6 owners, Crank pully bolt diffrent sizes?
Car: 89' CRX HF
Swap: D16A6 going in, D15coming out.
Problem:
After pulling out the D15 i buzzed off the crank pulley and bolt, so I could use them on the A6. How ever, it won't fit. The bolt is to big. I tried a bolt off of a D16y8,another D15, and just tried another off of a A6.
What gives here? We took the A6 apart to rebuild it,and It had never been taken apart. I know the origanl owner never removed the oil pan.
Any one ever have this problem?

So I tried a tranny bolt to see if it was the rite diameter and thread pitch, and it is. So basicly thats what I need just for the cran thow.
Anyone know why this is?

The first half of the 1988 A6's had a different crank pulley and smaller crank snout. The rest of them all have the same from mid-88 onward. Is your A6 from an '88 model?
Alright, so I now have the rite bolt for the crank pulley. But Honda keeps sending me the wrong pulley with the bolt. I was told ther where 2 options for that motor and the 1st didn;t work. Today I received the 2nd one and guess what. Again not the 1 I need. Here are a couple pics of whats going on.
The Bolt on the Left is the one I needed,

2 Pulleys that are diffrent but don't work....

Old D15 is 24mm

the D16A6 is 22mm
Has anyone else had this problem. Tomarrow I'm going back to tell them the "new Pulley" didn't work either.
By anychance , does someone have this smaller pulley?

what you have found is very strange.. any chance there is an aftermarket crank in the car or something? it still doesnt make sense, but that is the only idea i have. ive done quite a few timing belts on 88-91's, and ill admit that i wasnt trying to mix and match or anything, but i dont ever remember seeing any other bolt than the one you have on the right in the pictures.

nope, I got the swap froma freind. The motor was the origanl motor out of his 88' SI. I took every bolt off the iol pan myself, and this is the origanl crank, as far as I can tell.

man, this swap is going to give me more grey hair. Its been sitting for 2 weeks now in the same spot. By the time the send me the next pulley it will be 3weeks.
Where is the big red easy button, when you need it.

OK, so know there telling me (Honda parts guy) that this pulley I need must be a rare jdm pulley and they can't get it.
Anyone here have one sitting around from a old motor? I need to get this car back to the customer ASAP.

reinstall the crank? its on the snout (the end of the crank). I'm pretty shure pulling the crank and reinstalling it won't make the pulley fit over the snout.
Thanx anyway.

good luck finding a 22mm crank pulley!
The 22mm crank snout is a carry over from the 84-87 EW motors, dunno if a 87 pulley would work.
I'd research on http://www.redpepperracing.com
