what year does the lip that fits the ef on the vw? and does it fit the 88-89 bumpers? thanks

I have the two-piece lip on my 90 hatch and have seen pics of it on 88-89 as well as 2nd gen CRXs and it seems to fit better on both of those than it does on mine. I needed about another inch or two for it to line up perfectly with the bumper.

 

it doesnt fit 89 front bumpers, i just bought a set and it does not fit, the gap is off by a inch or so in the middle, but it does fit the 91 bumper.
