Default Exact weight of my Autopower roll bar, for those who asked or want to know...

Here is the roll bar in question. It's the Autopower race roll bar with the removable cross brace and removable harness bar. I weighed it without the padding and other stuff that's on it in the pic, but you get the idea:

Total weight = 52 lbs.

*EDIT* I should mention that this is the ERW bar. The DOM would be roughly the same weight, only slightly different tube sizes.

I'm going to pick up my Kirk Racing 6pt cage later this afternoon, and I'll be sure to weigh it too.

I could probably guess that for you pretty closely. Tonight, I'll just weigh the parts that would come with the roll bar (main hoop, braces, etc., but no front stuff). That should be about the right weight.

Has anybody weighed the back seats? I'm thinking that when I get a roll bar I will probably strip out the rear, at least the rear seats since they can't be used with a rollbar. That should negate some of the extra weight.

Well, I just got back with it and it's already dark here, so the pictures will have to wait until tomorrow. They did an awesome job packing it (mountain of bubble wrap) compared to the crappy jop Autopower did (one strip of packing tape here and there). The cage looks STOUT. Also, the roll bar hoop and the rear supports should be able to be weighed separate, but there is a cross brace between the rear supports that will add weight that their other roll bars won't have. Keep that in mind when you hear the total. The cage is pretty heavy, but from what I have heard the CRX still gets down to minimum weight with the cage, so the added weight isn't a big deal.

Thomas, mine was light! I could easily pick up the rollbar pieces (it is all taped together for shipping)...I would say it is less than 50 lbs. for sure! My guess is 45 lbs. BTW, I pulled my car onto the truck scales at Buttonwillow and my car weighed 2520 lbs. with half a tank of gas in race trim (Kirk 4pt rollbar and Sparco harnesses, no rear interior, no carpet, no headliner, no spare, no jack )

[edit]Just to clarify, I have a Kirk DOM 4pt. bolt-in rollbar, and it weighs less than 50 lbs. [/edit]

I'm very surprised to hear this, considering what I found out here:

Look over the pictures I posted and tell me what's different about your bar that makes it so light. Maybe the design has been changed?

I just replied in the other thread... The only other thing I can think of is that I'm stronger than I used to be and don't give myself enough credit. Maybe 70 lbs. only feels like 50 lbs. to me.

LOL! Could be...

I was surpirsed myself, but if you look at the construction it's nothing but BEEF. I still say the length of the hoop supports adds a lot of weight vs. the autopower bar.

rodney,

Does yours have the helmet restraint bar? That could account for the extra weight you have.
