Removing interior paint without messing up the plastic
I just got a '91 Accord that's been painted all over the interior (dash, doors, even the seats). What's a good chemical to use on this stuff that won't mess up the plastic/vinyl/leather? Thanks!
If anyone's parting out a '91 Accord I might be interested in some spares.

you might be able to use some thinner, just make sure to wipe on and wipe off. also i wouldn't be surprised if it pulled some of the dye out of the vinyl. if it was me, i would used some adhesive remover stuff, ive got some called akrysol... takes paint right off the interior. then use vinyl/leather dye and dye it whatever color you want
I picked up some stuff form the local paint supply shop its kind of like a thinner. Used it on my door panal and the dye came right off. The only thing is you have to wipe it on and wipe it off quick. You can't let it soak in.
chemicals and plastic dont mix to well .
best thing to do is sand it down and repaint it with SEM interior paint . i had white inteior in my integra back in 99/00 and i changed it back to black . nobody knew i repainted it unless i told them .

That is what I am using for mine. But to take off the old stuff you can use the stuff I am using. Sanding the dash and other parts will mess up the grain/finish.

maybe i should rephrase that
, one way to do it would be to scuff the paint with a scotch brite pad and apply the SEM .

Thanks for all the good info. I ended up picking out some stuff called Auto Strip at Autozone. It's working pretty good and isn't messing up the plastic at all. It does take a bit of scrubbing though.
