VOTE! For Where ITR Expo 2003 Should Be Held
Since now everyone wants to blame ME for everything from the food at the ITR Expo banquet to the World Trade Center tragedy, when my only sin was to suggest a fun track that was conveniently located for many of us. Great.
Let’s figure out a better way to decide on where ITR Expo 2003 will be located, so that no one gets blamed next year. Why not take a poll? Everyone can vote, and you can hold the event at the place that gets the most votes. That sounds fair, I think, and no one will become the scapegoat for suggesting the location if the event has problems.
Several tracks have been mentioned in the recent threads as possibilities, so I’ve used those as the initial choices for the poll. But I’ve also left it open to add additional choices if you think I’ve left any out. So cast your vote on where YOU want the event to be held.
Laguna would be fun, however the cost is crazy, plus its very hard to get a spot their. You would almost have to register the event now for next year for LSIR. Also a sound limit is in effect their which is like 95db's so mod'd R's or open exhaust R's are not allowed to run. Personally I would love to have a Laguna day, however its highly unlikely for a ITR event. The best way to do a Laguna event is to jump on with a group like Ferrari, NSXCA, BMWCCA, etc... We just had a event and joined the Ferrari group and it was like $200-250 for a day.
Also their is Sears point, however that too is extreamly $$$$
Thunderhill gets my vote as with Buttonwillow. I would lean towards Thunderhill just to have a mix in the race since most if the R events, etc... are at Buttonwillow.
Me personally I will be joining a few other groups at their events this year since organizing an event is crazy. BTW- If you need someone to organize an event, etc... I know a friend that will do it. He's the guy who runs http://www.UnlimitedLaps.com and all the days at Buttonwillow, Thunderhill, etc... He knows whats going and what to do. I would highly recommend seeing if he could organize the event for us unless someone else here wants to do it. The last unlimited laps event I was at (April) was awesome http://www.unlimitedlaps.com/gallery.../pictures.html
Check out his site at the URL above and see what you think. His guidelines are simple and to the point. You have to have the car tech'd before the event at a shop and have to pre-reg. before the event, etc...

Why does it have to be in one place? How about an Eastern and Western expo with two different organizers? What's stopping us from doing that? It's not like a California expo is going to take away any participants from a Virginia expo.

I'm in for the BEST track and for the most fun, WITHOUT the headaches or worries (extra cash last min and such)
I would say Limerock (is very close) is a ton of fun but would like to hit VIR! or WatkinsGlen!
3.4 mile course!

If theres only going to be 1 ITR Expo next year then we need a track located centrally in the US. Its only fair considering how far some people would have to drive if it was on either the West or East coast. I know that a lot of the SoCal crew wasn't at ITR 2002, but was at last years event in Cali.
However, having seperate east and west expo's seems a wise proposition as well.
Especially if they are on seperate dates with a few days inbetween. heh heh

This approach didn't work last time, no reason to pursue it now!
Also This One Expo per year Idea might not be the greatest. Most West Coast folks aren't going to drive out east and Vice Versa and as we saw from having a more centralized one, people still aren't going to drive more than a day to one.
What I propose is for 2003 have an East Coast and West Coast Expo, maybe a few months in between. This way some people can go to both if they choose and others can just go to the closest event.
Locked (As I said before lets let the 02 Expo die down a bit)
