weight reduction
i took the tar paper off from under the rear seats of my 98 civic ex, and now i'm taking out all the tar paper in the trunk, or at least as much as i can. any advice on the best way to do this? i'm using a hammer and putty knife right now and it's a bitch, but it's working alright i guess.
also i took out my cruise control a while ago and i still need to take out the switch cause i heard that the switch itself is pretty heavy. and someone walk me through that? thanks.

I wouldn't do it. I'd rather keep the options on the EX. The can lose 150lbs tops. Then you have the sunroof which adds weight to the car since you need to reinforce the roof with a big *** hole in there. Can't take that out. Just get a DX or a CX.
well i am keeping the options... but the cruise control is never used. besides it's already out, i just wanted to know how to get the cruise control switch out. =/ thanks though
Cruise control just get a lower model civic wheel like a CX or DX. You can get them pretty cheap and get reimbursed by selling your wheel after you replace it.

First off wow.
Second get some dry ice and a rubber mallet. Crush up the dry ice and scatter it over the area to remove. Let sit until the crackling is gone and then lightly rap the area with a rubber mallet. Not too hard to dent the tin can. Should crumble right up and take a vacuum and suck up the dry ice and all the little pieces left over.
Takes longer to remove the seats and carpet then the actual tar removal.
