Here is the situation. Just got a hatch about a month ago and noticed the block wasn't typical d15b7 in dx hatch.

Previous owner said timing belt went and got whole new motor. I'm just trying to figure out what head I have. Check out the pics and let me know what you think.

Mystery block off plate for ???? Egr? Vtec solenoid?

Thing is that this thing pulls on my buddies d15b7 pretty easily and his is modded (intake/exhaust) and mine is stock. It doesn't sound like vtec. I'm just wondering what the deal with this thing is and what you guys can tell me about it. The more detailed the better.

I'm just way lost and all the information possible would be greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance!

 

That's the same engine I have. It's a jdm d15b non vtec. That plate is where the vtec solenoid would have been.

its just some kind of pump the jdm engines have that the usdm doesnt use. they just covered it up wit a metal plate so oil doesnt come flowing out.

edit: its a d15b or zc (sohc)

No, that plate is blocking off the hole where the fuel pump goes. These engines came with carburetors instead of FI. If you pull the valve cover you will see an eccentric that drives the pump.
